Angela Percy"Alpha.." Someone called. I cracked my eyes open to see Ren standing beside the bed.
I felt Lane stir beneath me. I nuzzled my face into his neck as Lane opened his eyes.
"He's here." Ren's voice was dark and gravely.
Lane growled, the sound was low in his chest and it vibrated through my body, causing pain in my shoulder.
I hissed and Lane's growl was cut short. "Are you okay?" He asked, his voice full of concern.
I managed to nod and Lane sat up carefully, still cradling me in his arms.
"Alpha, Safír wants to know if he should have him escorted to a holding cell?" Ren asked.
Lane carefully got up without moving me too much.
"No... I'll talk to him. Take him to my office. I want guards surrounding the perimeter and two guards posted outside of the office." He told him.
Ren nodded and left the room and Lane turned to me.
"Angela... I have to go. My pack needs me." He told me, there was strength in his voice.
I started to panic. "No, no... Please don't leave me." I whined, reaching forward with my good hand.
What was wrong with me?
His hand held mine. "I know baby. But Veronica is going to come with Safír and your puppy. I'll stay till they get here." He kissed my hand.
Everything felt strange. I wasn't used to Lane calling me 'baby' but at the same time it felt like a usual thing.
It was comforting and it made me feel better.Lane sat in the chair next to my bed. His lips were on my skin, causing the familiar sparks to run up my arm. His hands cupped mine and I closed my eyes, savoring the feeling and the moment.
The door opened and so did my eyes, just in time to see Veronica in a wheel chair. She looked exhausted but she gave me a smile. In her arms was Charm. He was panting happily.
Safír was behind her, pushing the wheel chair. His eyes met mine and he nodded.
"Angela.." Lane turned to me. His eyes were glowing and I wanted to look into them all day.
"I need to go. I'll be back in a little while, I promise." He leaned down and placed a feather like kiss on my forehead before turning to the door.
He left quietly and as soon as he was gone, I felt my heart start to ache.
I turned my attention to Veronica and Charm, deciding the only way to push away the ache was to focus on something else.
"Are you alright?" I asked Veronica and Safír pushed her closer.
I could see a few cuts and bruises on her face. She smiled again. "Thanks to you I am. You saved me." She said as Charm jumped from her lap to mine.
