This Isn't Funny Anymore

About 10 minutes later I sat eating pancakes with Dan and Phil, PJ and Chris had left not long after they had come. I sat shoving pancakes around in a lake of syrup, I wasn't actually that hungry so... Chris and PJ had only stopped by breifly to pick something up, I'd become increasingly close with them, escpecially Chris, since dating Dan. They'd promised they'd come around again tomorrow to do something with us.

''Aw crap, I'm late for meeting my mum'' Dan said suddenly, choking on his mouthful of pancakes. He stood up quickly, grabbing his jacket from the back of his chair, his eyes were shot wide as if he was heading to his death.

''Have fun, tell her hi from me'' I said, Dan laughed and leaned down to kiss me breifly before running out the door. I looked over at Phil who was pushing a piece of pancake around in a swimming pool of syrup. He looked so entertained by that one tiny piece in a plate of brown liquid. I had been itching to know about Holly for a while now and I was to scared to ask Dan. 

''Phil...'' I said carefully and he looked up and my throat practically slammed shut ''Um, could you, maybe, tell me about Holly?'' I mumbled. Phil's face softened, and he looked down at his mostly eaten pancakes.

''I guess you have the right to know'' he said with a sigh, ''Well, ugh, Holly is Dan's ex. She used to be the love of his life, I don't think she would be anymore though'' he said and smiled at me, I felt my cheeks flush ''well, basicallyshe cheated on him. They'd been dating since highschool. They even lived together. (Phil let out a cold laugh, which was strange for such a happy guy) He was literally crushed. Spent weeks alone in his room for months on end, he was depressed. Eventually, we got him out into the world again. Then 7 months later a girl from Nashville moves in across the hall'' he said, I smiled ''I like you, probably as much as Dan does. Ronnie, if you ever intend on hurting him, please don't waste his time'' 

''I'd never'' I said, I could barely even begin to think about hurting Dan. He was the best thing to ever happen to me. Phil smiled at me.

''Good'' he nodded

I sat awake that night, just like always. I sighed and pushed my pillow on to my face. I felt completely empty. I needed Dan. Really bad. I'd come to the conclusion I couldn't sleep without him right next to me. Also, I'd had probably my worst panic attack in my lifw about an hour ago. Sighing, I turned over and started at the empty bed next to me. I curled up into a ball, still feeling as numb as always when I was alone. I was wearing his shirt, it smelled of him and it made me feel a tiny bit better. 

I almost jumped out of my skin when there was a knock at my door. Attempting to calm down from the shock, I grabbed my hoodie and padded through my dark apartment to the front door. I flicked the hallway light on, squinting through the sudden brightness and looked in the peep hole. My heart nearly melted when I saw Dan, standing in him pajamas, his hair was slightly messed up at the back and he had a blanket draped over his shoulders.

''May I help you Mr Howell?'' I said, opening the door and leaning on the door post.

''I figured you wouldn't be sleeping so I though I'd come keep you company...'' he said, running a hand through his hair, which just made it stick up more. I smiled at him and opened the door wider for him to come in.

''I have movies and blankets, unless you actually felt like sleeping tonight'' he said, his smile made my heart skip a beat. 

''I like sound of movies and blankets'' I said. He flashed me one of his amazing grins. 

DAN

''oh shit shit shit!'' Ronnie said, burying her face in my shoulder as there was another jump scared on Insidious.
