Chapter 8

The base was very clean compared to the outside. Jack led James to a room full of chairs and tables and a projector in the middle pointing towards one of the wall.

"James this is our briefing room here I will explain everything," Jack explained.

"When can I go back home? It is almost time for my parents to get up and I am worried they might freak if I am not there," James asked.

"You can't go home it is part of the deal," Jack explained.

"No I need to go home you never told me I would be stuck here forever!" James reminded.

"James you need to calm down you can't go home and your parents will report you missing, but the bots will do nothing about it, because when you joined us we reprogrammed the system so that you never existed," Jack explained "also if you do show up on the surface tomorrow the bots will take you away because you are a stranger to them,".

"Well can I ever see my parents again," James asked starting to cry.

"After a couple years you can have a life on the surface, but we need to make sure you aren't a snitch, also it takes a while for our tech guys to program a whole new person's life," Jack explained "I know it is hard to accept that fact, but you are going to have to bud,"

"Just go," James cried.

"OK, if you need me I will have someone guarding the door that can direct you to me," Jack explained.

James cried for a very long time. It was hard him to accept the fact that he had to wait years to see his parents again.

After a while James heard someone come inside the room.

"Go away," James sobbed.

"Sorry did not see you in here," said the person who walked in, "hey what is wrong man,". James looked up. It was a boy just around his age he looked newer as well.

"I just learned I have to wait years to see my parents again," James explained wiping away some tears.

"Oh I understand, if you could not tell I am also somewhat new too, so I know what you are going through" the stranger explained. "I can give you a tour, it will help you forget about your parents,".

"Sure," James said wiping away the last of the tears from his face.
