"Ry, here are the complete revisions for the current project" Marlin placed the flashdrive on his desk.
"Is this complete?"
"Yes"
"Did you double check it?"
"Uhh yes?"
"Are you sure?"
"Ugh! Why would I give you an incomplete revisions?!" She started to be piss.
"Oh nothing.. Cos the last time you gave me your final work, they were lacking two designs."
"Well this time it's not, okay?! I double checked it twice thrice" She snapped.
"Alright. Just making sure." He smirked annoyingly.
She rolled her eyes. "Can I go now?"
"Not just yet. I just want to know why didn't you answer my emails over the weekend?"
"Oh, uhm...Sorry about that,I---" She paused not knowing what to say. She couldn't tell him that she was out partying and didn't want to be interrupted by any work-related means. "Bu--b-but while you're away the last two days I did answer you back. You haven't receive it?"
"I don't care. I emailed you last weekend, you supposed to answer me back last weekend!"
"Sor--"Before she could say it, he said sternly "You can go now."
She turned her back right away and stormed out of the room. She couldn't think of how many times she intensely furiously walked out of that door.
Ryan was getting on her nerves. ALL. THE. TIME.
Working in a prestige well-known media company could be a little intimidating and stressful. But Marlin swore she could handle all of that, the pressure, anxiety and any other difficulties that came with it.
But having an absurd boss who happened to be your ex-boyfriend was ridiculous. She didn't sign up for this, and she never planned it as well.
She dated Ryan for six months about a year ago. That time, he was still a graphic design specialist just like her. They were just like other couples, they hang out, go to dinner almost every night, they fight like cats and dogs and not talking for almost a week. When Marlin went to his apartment one late night, he was caught kissing another woman, a few years older than her she assumed. Ryan tried to explain that the girl was the one who went to his apartment and caught him off guard. But she never bothered to listen, she broke up with him. Weeks later, Ryan was promoted as the department leader, and that was when her nightmare started.
She could feel her blood rushing to her head. She went back to her desk and cooled herself down.
Realizing that Sarah was not around, she moved her head side to side looking for her. It's lunch-break already. Where is she? When she couldn't find her, she sighed out of frustration.
"Hey! What's wrong?" It's her workmate, Sheena.
"Nothing new, Ryan being a jerk. Again!"
She giggled. "Didn't you get used to it already?"
"I do, but he's really getting on my nerv---" She paused when she realized she needed to keep it cool. Controlling herself, she inhaled deep and diverted her attention by asking. "Uhh..Have you seen Sarah?"
"Yea, she's in the meeting with sales director."
"Thanks."
Sheena left happily with the little golden spiky orb that Marlin gave her as a desk accessory, and that was when she texted Sarah.
