"I dont know you two know each other?" Ivan spoke his confusion.
"At a grocery store." Shaun answered. "She was--"
Marlin turned around immediately. "Uhh it's a long story."
His white teeth flashing smile stood out with all these lights lasering everywhere. That sudden moment, she could feel her cheek burning and turning red.
Shaun might had understood her because he didn't go on with the story. Reliving her embarrassing moment in front of these people was the last thing she wanted to.
"Okay, so nice meeting you...again." She finally said before turning her seat to the opposite direction, gulping down her whole drink wishing they would just go away. And they did.
In front of her was Sarah with a smirk, and later burst out laughing. "What was that?"
"Are they gone?" She asked in a low voice.
"They're still there." Sarah spoke loudly. "Behind you."
Marlin shut her eyes in embarrassment and whispered to her, "I'm gonna kill you."
Sarah started to giggle. "Relax, they're long gone. So, who's the hot guy?"
"Just a stranger I met at the grocery store."
"Oooh, a stranger huh."
The blonde had a full teasing smile pinned on her face.
"I know that look."
Sarah's beam grew wider.
"Forget it okay, it's not gonna happen."
"I didn't say anything." Sarah uttered as she innocently sipped a rum.
The night was running slow, it had her feel like that she'd been there forever. Exhausted from all the dancing, she spent most of her time sitting and talking to some of Ivan's friends. She found them loud but not annoyingly loud. Just like Ivan, they were too funny that she laughed too much hurting her jaw.
Marlin needed to go to the restroom but she didn't know where it was. She texted Sarah.
"U know where the restroom is?"
"Right corner near the bar"
"Do u want to come with me?"
"Ur a big girl."
She closed her phone in dismay.
Marlin walked to the restroom, passing by the bar counter which she thought was very aesthetic.
She didn't even set foot in the restroom yet and that awful smell already reached her nostrils. There was a reason why she'd never go to nightclub's toilets, and she hated that she had to right now.
She held her breath as she kicked every empty cubicle while finding a decent one. And by saying decent, she meant the one without a puke in it. Everything in this club was fancy, but not the place where she was standing right now.
Marlin made sure to wash her hands thoroughly and fixed her hair. Good thing she had her lip tint in her jeans pocket for her to retouch.
The tiny hall led her back to the loud part of the place.
"Hey Marlin, you drop this." She turned around and saw Shaun holding a vape tank.
"Oh that's not mine."
"I know, I did it to get your attention." He beamed as he put it back in his pocket.
"Or you could just simply say hi." She flashed a clever smile.
