Chapter 6

I have been looking at this room quite carefully for the past couple of days. The screws holding the boards to the windows are not that sturdy. The wall behind the bookshelf is old and torn, easily breakable, but not without making a sound. The neatest thing that i have found in this room is a trick floorboard. It was hard to find because it was under the bed in the corner. Just think, these tasks are hard to accomplish with bound wrists and a sprained knee.

I squirmed under the bed and opened the trick board. I reached my hands inside the small space and touched something metal. I grabbed the handful of things that were in the hall and set them on the bed. I put a pillow  by me to block the items from view if someone came in. The first thing i picked up was a small looking notebook. I carefully opened it and saw that it was a journal like the on i had. It was small and had a leather cover that said Annie.

Day 1

June 16 2004

-I found this notebook and i believe that one day it might help someone. I have been captured. There are four men with masks who have taken me. I was walking home from my friends house and they pulled up in a black van and just took me. I guess i was an easy target. Maybe they have a type? I am a seventeen year old girl with brown curly hair and blue eyes. I am sure that they have taken more victims before me. I don't know if they will kill me or not. I am scared. If anyone ever finds this, my name is Annie Clark. I hope that i will live.

-Annie

Mental note; Annie Clark was taken by four men, like me. She had/had brown curly hair and blue eyes, like me. She was seventeen, i am seventeen. She didn't know if she was going to live or not, i still don't know if i will live.

I turned the page to the next entry.

Day 4

June 20 2004

-These men treat me like a guest in a way. I am locked up in this room and am not allowed to leave. They leave every so often to go "Run some errans." Their trips are short so i have a feeling that we are close to civilization. They watch news reports all the time. I over heard a report about my kidnapping, my father was on the television crying. I miss my father very dearly. These men check up on me almost every hour to make sure i am not trying to escape. The days drag on and i am becoming weary. I am loosing hope one day at a time.

-Annie

I put the notebook under my pillow by my journal. I picked up the next object. It was a knife. The pocket knife was easily concealable and sharp. I set my finger on the point and it drew blood.

I could really use this. I thought.

The last object i picked up was a small necklace. It was a thin chain with a small red heart that dangled down.

This must have been Annie's.

I put the necklace on. It was very hard to do so because of my wrists.I thought of how she must have felt.

We were taken from our families, scared and alone. She probably put these things down there so someone could know the truth.

A stair at the bottom of the staircae creaked. I quickly grabbed the knife an the journal and put them back in the hole. I carefully laid the board back into place and sat on the bed staring at the wall.

The deadbolt unlocked and Derek came in with a bowl of soup and some water.

"Here Jaymie, i thought you would like something to eat." He said and set the tray on the table by the bed. He untied my wrists then sat in the chair against the wall as usual and asked me the same questions. "How are you?"

I nodded.

"Have you read any of the books in here?"

I shook my head and a light bulb went off.

Duh, the books, If there were other victims, they might be in the books.

"Oh, i have something for you." He said and left for a minute.

He came back in with a bag and put in beside me. I emptied the contents of the bag. There were two pair of jeans, two shirts, some socks and another pair of pajama pants.  I looked at the sizes on the pants.

"How did you know my size?" I mumbled.

"I just guessed." He said. I couldn't read his emotions through those stupid sunglasses. "How is your knee?"

I shrugged. He pulled up the pant leg on my jeans and took the bandage off.

"Well it's getting better. Does it still hurt?"

I nodded.

"Okay, I have to clean it again." He took out a small rag and some alcohol and dabbed the bloodied part of my knee. "That should be better." He said and wrapped my knee back in the bandage.

"Derek! What is taking so long?" Trevor's voice called from downstairs.

"I have to go." He whispered. "I will check on you later." With that he tied my hands back up and left.

Your right to tie my hands up, because i have a plan. I thought

I got my journal out and made an entry.

Day 378

Day 7.

-It has been exactly one week since i have been taken. It is the same old thing everyday. I found something though. This is not the first time that these men have kidnapped someone. There was a girl named Annie Clark who was kidnapped in june of 2004. She was seventeen, had brown curly hair and blue eyes and had a journal. I found her journal, she was smart to write down what was going on and hid that journal. It is in a small trick board hidden under the bed. With the journal i found a necklace that i think belonged to her. She was a smart girl because she hid a pocket knife with this. She must have had an idea of how to escape. I will continue to read her journal and try to figure this out. Danny, I don't know if you are the one pointing me to these answers, but if you are thank you. I love you and miss you so much.

I yawned.

Before i forget. Reminder; Check the books on the bookshelf for more clues. There have been more kidnappings than Annie  and I. I am going to figure out who was taken, and i want to know if they are still alive.

-Jaymie
