Promises are meant to never be broken

"Promise me Robert... Take care of her... Love and cherish her they way I can never do..." and she breathed her last breath.

Robert who had never loved another woman as much as he had loved Lyanna surprised everyone by suddenly bringing home a pregnant woman. Much to Cercei's displease. The woman looked alike the king's last love however she was much more frailer than her. And the king fell in love once again only to have his heart broken by losing the person he loved once again. This time he lost her to Death. 

Because the shock of losing her was bigger than losing Lyanna the king refused to look at the daughter she had given birth. And for a few months he ignored and avoided to ever meet the girl his beloved Mercy risked everything to give life to. He was sorry he broke the promise to her. But his life took a turn when the constant yelling and screaming on the nights got on his nerves and he personally started to look after the baby himself. Feeding her during food time, tucking her during nap time and tell her stories during night times. He was basically becoming the father he never thought he could be. Yet the heavens had shown him a miracle and he was sure Mercy was watching over them. Because miracles only started to happen when she had come into his life.

And so his daughter grew and he would watch her fierceness and energetic body make his days more worth to live for.
