Hayden P.O.V
I walk out of my apartment and into my car as my cell rings. It's Jocelyn. "Hey what's up?" I ask. "When are you gonna get here? I want you to see these guy perform there pretty good. Every one around town has been talking about them." She says eagerly. "I'm getting into my car now. I'll be there soon." I reply. "Ok see you then." She says.
I start my car and start driving towards the bar. Every Friday the bar has like this open mic night and let's people perform music or comedy and even read out poetry.
I pull up and park my car and see Jocelyn standing outside and give her a hug. "Hey!" She greets me. "Hey lets go in!" I reply. We got ourselves each a beer and sat down to watch these guys perform. "Do you know what they call themselves?" I asked. "I'm not sure. But they were here last Friday and everyone loved them." We watch as a guy with curly hair walk over to the drums. And three different guys with guitars. One had sort of a bob hair cut, and one with greasy long hair and the last guy had curly hair like the drummer. The vocalist finally walked out and over to the mic. "This song is kind of a work in progress, it's called is this it." He had long greasy hair that reached down to his shoulders, all the guys looked really cute but the vocalist looked best. I couldn't help but get shivers as he started singing.
"Can't you see I'm trying, I don't even like it
I just lied to get to your apartment
Now I'm staying there just for a while
I can't think cause I'm just way too tired.""Is this it?"
"Is this it?"
"Is this it?""Said they'd give you anything you ever wanted
When they lied I knew it was just stable
Children trying hard not to realize
I was sitting right behind you.""Dear can't you see, it's them it's not me
We're not enemies, we just disagree
If I was like him, all dissing his pa
He changes his mind, says I went too far
We all disagree I think we should disagree, yeah.""Is this it?"
"Is this it?"
"Is this it?""Can't you see I'm trying, I don't even like it
I just lied to get to your apartment
Now I'm staying there just for a while
I can't think cause I'm just way too tired."Every one cheered for them as the song ended. They bowed and thanked the crowd and started to take there equipment to clear the stage for the next performer. "Didn't I tell you they were awesome?!" Jocelyn says. "Yea, they were really, really, good. I love that song they played." I replied. "Hey come with me to get some more beers." Jocelyn said as we made are way to the bar. "2 beers please." I said to the bar tender. We grab our beers and sit at the stools. We're sipping our beers and we see those same guys walk out of a back room and over to the bar. "Five beers please." The vocalist says. He's even cuter up close. He looks over at me noticing that I'm staring. "Hi...um. You guys were really good!" I say trying to muster up as much confidence as I could. He smiles. "Thank you, I'm Julian." He sticks out his hand for me to shake it. I grab his much bigger hand. "I'm Hayden." I say with a smile. "These are my friends and band members. Nick, Fabrizio, Nikolai and Albert." They all greet me. "Oh, and this is my friend Jocelyn. She's the one who told me about you guys." The guy named Nick looks up. "That's really cool." He says and shakes Jocelyn's hand. She blushes. "So do you guys mind hanging with us? We could use some new company." Julian says. "We'd love too, thanks." I say not moving my focus away from him. We all walk over to a table and sit down. Jocelyn starts talking to the other guys while Julian has my full attention. "So you guys moved here or you were raised?" He asked. "I was born and raised but Jocelyn moved here a few years ago from Arizona." I reply. "Oh ok that's cool. I was born and raised here too." He says. "So what do you guys call yourselves?" I ask. "We're not 100% yet but The Strokes is most likely gonna be what we call ourselves." I smile. "I like The Strokes, it has a nice ring to it.
We spend the whole night talking and laughing, having a good time. "This was really fun, but it's already 10 we have to head home." Julian says as the rest of the guys nod in agreement. The guys walk out the door and so does Jocelyn, I follow but I'm held back by Julian. "Hey...um. You should call me sometime. So...we can hang out again." He said shyly, he slipped me a piece of paper with his number on it. I smiled and gave him a quick hug. "I'd like that." I replied and walked out and back to my car as we parted ways. Jocelyn walks up to me. "Hey can I get a ride home? I walked here." She asked. "Sure hop in." I reply. I start smiling like an idiot as I start the car. "What's wrong? Why are you smiling like that?" Jocelyn asks. I hold up the paper with Julian's number on it and wave it in her face. "What?! No way!! He gave you his number?" She asked. "Yep! He said he wanted to hang out again sometime." She smiled. "Damn! You're so lucky!" I wish Nick would've given me his number. That guy was so cute! I couldn't stand it." She said. "Maybe he was just shy. You'll see him again don't worry." I reassured her.
I pulled up in front of Jocelyn's house. "Thanks for the ride!" She says while giving me a hug. "No prob, see you later!"
I finally get home and lay in my bed. I decide not to call Julian tonight. "I don't wanna seem desperate." I think to myself. I slip into my Pj's and go to bed with a big smile on my face.
