We returned to our tavern room, Alyse bolted the door. Then she placed one hand on the door and muttered a spell under her breath. After that, she turned to us. "The kingdom regards me as a criminal simply because I practice spirit magic."
I saw Levi tense up beside me. I looked at him furtively. "What's wrong?"
"Spirit magic is magic that can slay Dragons." Levi said with his voice choked.
"See, upon the mention of spirit magic, Dragons speak in a choked voice because of fear." Alyse said, taking a seat on a stool. "But I'm not out here to kill any of your family. I'm here to protect a member of it, actually."
"We do not need the protection of someone who could kill us just as easily as protecting us." Levi said.
"And they're almost adults," I added. "They could protect themselves."
"Not for long perhaps." Alyse said. "The Faeries are planning something. My mas-"
She trailed off when Levi swiftly drew his sword and aimed it at Alyse's throat. I'm stood up out of reflex. "Calm down, Levi."
"Stay out of this, Feyre." Levi replied. "She may be a spy of the Faeries."
"What? Don't be ridiculous." Alyse said in an exasperated tone. "I'd be damned before I become anyone's spy. We witches don't offer up our allegiance to anyone. Our order has higher calling. So, if you don't mind putting the sword away..."
Levi didn't put the sword away. The next minute was the most tensed minute I ever felt in my life.
"Well then." Alyse said, breaking the tension. "Vectos." And Levi flew backwards as if hit with tremendous force. He hit the window, causing it to shatter and him to fall through towards the streets below.
I didn't even had a second to process what just happened because Alyse grabbed my arm and dragged me out of the room. Then we ran through a hallway, we went down a flight of stairs and found ourselves in the stable. Our horses were already saddled.
"Let's go." She said, letting go of my arm and already mounting her horse. I followed her. Whatever is the explanation for this, it'd have to wait. We ride our horses out of the stable.
Then there was the roar of a Dragon. I looked behind me and saw Levi in Dragon form. His head scanned his surroundings and locked in our direction. With a snarl, he flapped his wings, took off into the air and gave chase.
Alyse turned right and I was just doing so when I heard Levi's talons scrape the brick road. He's trying to capture us. Why did Alyse have to make him fall from a window? A lot of unanswered questions are swimming in my mind and for someone who's being chased by a Dragon, I've had the guts to be unfocused.
A roof of the nearby building toppled down, blocking the road ahead of us. We steered our horses left and found ourselves in the middle of wagon traffic. I heard Alyse swear but she pressed on so I followed.
Our horses were doing their best to avoid a direct collision with any wagons. People started to panic and jump out of our way, leaving their wagons. Despite of us not colliding with anything, Levi was quickly closing in behind us, the buffeting of the wind was enough to tell me so. Alyse was causing random crates to hit Levi on the face, one crate containing red dye spilled it's contents on Levi's snout. This further irritated the already agitated Dragon.
Then everyone on the panic-stricken area heard a roar not coming from Levi. Everyone, even Levi, went still. A young girl pointed up the sky and everyone started looking up.
At first, I thought it was stars falling here on earth. The glittering of her scales outshone the sun. And when she descended, everyone watched in awe and shock as the streets were bathed with different colors reflected from her scales. Though she does not have wings, she glides through the air with ease. Princess Celestia in Dragon form looks like a string of stars dancing on the heavens, outshining even the sun.
The Princess paused before her brother and for a few seconds, they seemed to be talking. Alyse signalled that we continue on our way. Our horses slowly moved away. We turned left on the nearby block and found the city gates only a few meters away.
We were quickly moving towards the gate when Alyse and I heard two Dragons roaring and a crash accompanied by the sound of people in panic. Alyse and I urged our horses to gallop faster. We sped past the awe-stricken guards, and we're out of the city.
I looked back and saw Levi trying to get past her sister who was blocking the direction leading to us. Was she trying to help us?
And that was the last time that we saw of Levi and her sister. Alyse and I later stopped on the town called Carver, situated at the foot of Mt. Quelling.
"What are we doing here, Alyse? And I don't really understand why you threw Levi out of the window causing us to be chased through Dragonscale."
"I can help you better than Levi can." She said. She approached a young lad and whispered something to him. Then the lad went off running. "Levi said that the Red Party may be the suspect to your parent's murder."
"He did. So?"
"So, we're going up to that mountain and ask them if they did it."
