Everybody Knows

Chapter 3

“Running Into Strangers…Secondary Exams”

“The administration suite is right up ahead at the end of this path!” Lou yelled from my pocket. “If you hurry you should be on time!”

“Okay, I got it.” I said tiredly as I continue to run up a narrow path lined with plants and flowers. I hadn’t been running for too long. Actually the trolleys and buses got me most of the way to be honest, but I was still tired. I wasn’t used to running up such steep inclines. I don’t think I would ever get used to this. To make this all even worse, I was still carrying my two suitcases. I had thought about hiding them in bush somewhere and returning to get them when I wasn’t so busy, but I was afraid someone might find them and take them. I couldn’t afford for that to happen. My whole life was in these bags… Well, at least my new life.

“Come on slowpokes!” I heard someone shout playfully. “Let’s see who can get down the path the quickest!”

I searched for the owner of the voice and was surprised when somebody burst onto the path from the forest that surrounded it. The boy had his eyes closed tightly with a smile on his face as he turned my direction and headed my way full speed.

Oh shit.

I tried to stop, but I had too much momentum and couldn’t properly do so. I closed my eyes shut and embraced for impact. We crashed into each other pretty rough and my bags were sent flying out of my hand.

The boy groaned loudly in pain as we both landed on the dirt path.

When I finally opened my eyes and sat up I was greeted with the sight of the boy lying flat on the ground, limbs outstretched. He had wild curly brown hair and soft features. He seemed to be about the same age as me. Could he be a student here?

“Harry! Are you okay!?” I heard an intimidating voice yell from the forest, right around where the boy had emerged.

The boy I bumped into – I assume his name is Harry- eyes suddenly popped open and I was attacked by this odd and rare greenish hue. He was still for a moment before randomly sitting up and looking like he was lost.

Two figures emerged from the forest and rushed toward us. One was another guy and one was a girl. The boy was edgy looking with a light brown skin and a black quiff at the top of his head. He had on the epically cool leather jacket that I became envious of, but was sure I wouldn’t be able to pull off.

The girl was a short one with long brown locks that reached the middle of her back and hazel eyes that contrasted perfectly with them. She was wearing a light pink sundress. There was no traces of makeup on her face, something I was kind of not used to. Most of the girls in Initium started wearing makeup early on. Only reason Chris didn’t wear any was because she was too busy reading her books.
