Chapter Five: Enemies

JADE
A WEEK LATER
"I spotted him in the crowd, he was kissing Marzia and she slapped him. Haven't seen him sense my brother came back," I explained, he was curious about what happened between me and Adam.
"Wow," Connor said. "What an asshole. How can somebody cheat on you?"
"Guess I wasn't good enough. Wasn't the first time, though. This girl Brooke got him drunk and they had sex, she's pregnant. Still is, to my knowledge," I added.
"You deserve better," Connor replied, taking a sip of his Coke.
"I don't know, I guess so. He made me feel special, but he found another," I said.
"Have you talked to him sense?" Connor asked.
"Nah," I responded.
"You should, go give him a piece of your mind," Connor replied.
"I don't know..." I said.
"He's an asshole! He thinks he can hurt you and get away with it?" Connor snapped.
"You're right," I said. "I'm going over."
"I'll drive," Connor said.
We got up from the couch and left Connor's house and into his truck. He drove off and I pointed where to go, surprised I still remembered. We pulled up and I stepped out and pounded on the door. I heard footsteps, and the door opened.
"Listen you worthless-"
I stopped when I noticed who it was. "Brooke?"
"Jade?" She asked. "I... What... Are you doing here?"
"I should ask you the same question!" I exclaimed.
"Jade, please... You have to leave. Now," Brooke urged.
"What are you-"
"Brooke?" Adams voice broke from the background as he joined Brooke. he wore all black and a red tie.
"Jade..." he whispered.
"What the fuck is going on here?" I screamed, Connor rolled down his window.
"We're not dating," Brooke said.
"We're just living together," Adam added.
"Because that makes it better," I growled.
"It's for the baby," Brooke said.
"You're keeping that mistake?" I yelled.
"Jade, don't say that about the baby!" Brooke yelled.
"Look, Jade, you've left. Stop. I'm stopping, I'm going to be a father. So, please, continue with your life, I'll continue mine," Adam growled. I paused.
"Where are you guys going anyways?" I asked.
"Going shopping for the baby," Adam answered.
"Good to see you've moved on so quickly," I said.
"Coming from you, isn't that your boyfriend?" Adam asked, pointing to Connor.
"Just a friend," I answered.
"If you're aloud to have a guy friend, why can't Adam have a girl friend?" Brooke asked.
I stayed silent as they both started at me.
"Listen, I've been obsessed and missing you forever. But, you've changed. And I don't want to be with someone who's changed from an innocent girl to a... Well, a bitch. No offense. Plus, you're smoking and taking drugs now, and drinking? Adding Tristan to all of this, it's, it's not worth it. I'm sorry, just, move on and be happy. I'm going to be a good father to my baby and, no offense, I don't want you ruining it," Adam explained, Brooke smiled at Adam and glared at me.
"YOU'RE leaving ME?" I yelled.
"You left me, first, Jade. I'm okay with it, so just move on," Adam responded.
"I..."
"Adam, c'mon. We don't have all day," Brooke begged.
"She's right," Adam said. Adam shut the house door and locked it. "Bye, Jade." Then, they walked to Brooke's car, Adam driving, and drove away.
I stood there, starring. I heard a door open and close and footsteps come closer. I turned to see Connor waiting for me, starring at me as I started right back at him.
"You good?" he asked.
"I pushed away, the one person who loved me," I whispered. "Now he's with that whore."
"He cheated on you, Jade. He's not the only person in love with you, either. Believe me," Connor said, I said nothing.
"I loved him. He loved me. And, I pushed him away because he made a mistake. I should be mad, and I am but, I miss him. He's over me, Brooke loves him, and he's going to be a dad. Look at me. I'm single and sad with no family except for a brother who used to beat me for an activity," I said.
"Jade-"
"DON'T sympathy me. I don't want sympathy. I want to go home," I said, I walked past Connor and got in his truck, he got in after me and we drove. We got to my house and I ran out and inside, slamming the door behind me. I sunk down to my knees and cried until I heard more footsteps coming from downstairs.
"Jade?"
I looked up, Tristan starring at me.
"What happened?"
I jumped up and ran into him, hugging him and crying into his chest.
"He... He loves anther g-girl... He's going to b-be a dad," I stuttered.
"Hey, hey it's going to be okay. I don't like the kid. I know you don't. But, don't hate him for loving another girl. At one point, somebody hated you for being the new girl. Don't be mad at her for having your old job. So, if you see him bring her flowers or kiss her, smile, because that's what he used to do for you, and he realized how happy it made you, he's just trying to make another girl happy," Tristan said as I continued to hug him.
"Why are you always right?" I asked.
"Trust me, I'm not. You need a girls day, call up Lizzie or someone and go get your nails done or something,"
"You're right," I said.
After, I went upstairs and dialed Marzia, Lizzie, Des and Amity. We all met up when Des picked us up. We decided to go to the mall, and we did. We got some clothes and makeup and stuff, and after we decided to go to Friday's for lunch. We sat in the booth next to the window, in which I had explaining to do. I explained everything about Adam and Brooke to the girls, they listened in awe.
"So, he's dating Brooke?" Marzia asked.
"No. They're living together 'for their baby,' which I think is bullshit. Brooke's a spoiled brat, but she knows how to get what she wants," I answered as I took a sip of my Sheerly Temple.
"Boy or girl?" Amity asked.
"Amity!" Des exclaimed as she hit her on the arm.
"What? I'm curious," Amity replied.
"I have no clue," I answered.
"So, what, did you catch feelings for him again or something"? Lizzie asked.
"That's the thing- I don't know. I met up with an old guy friend, who I think seems to think I'm adorable. His name is Connor. He's a sweet county boy who works here, but as soon as I saw Adam living with another girl, I felt my heart pound, like it was going to pop out of my chest," I explained.
"Go with Connor. He's sweet, a county boy, and has a job. Doesn't seem like the cheating type," Des said.
"I wouldn't. You just met up with this guy? You've known Adam for a while. You were the schools OTP. I'm not saying get back together with him, but, I wouldn't give up all hope because his living with the mother of his baby," Amity argued.
"I'm going with Des on this one. He cheated on you, twice. And, if you did stay with Adam, you'd have a boyfriend who's living with a girl that's not you. Who's also going to be a father of a baby that's not yours," Lizzie added.
"Guys, when I went back that night to see Felix and Adam, Adam was so upset. He fought for Jade. He ran right to Jade's house when he found out Tristan was back. But, it's your choice Jade. Connor or Adam," Marzia replied, everyone looked at me.
"I mean, I don't have to make a decision now," I said.
I saw Amity whisper to Des, and Des' eyes open wide, look behind me, and whisper to Lizzie while Amity whispered to Marzia.
"What?" I asked as I turned to look behind me.
"No, no, no!" They all yelled, but it was too late.
Coming up the escalating stairs was Adam and Brooke, laughing and smiling. They had a ton of bags from the mall, but not all of them were baby bags. There were a few, like 'Tiny Times' bags or 'Little Bundle,' but there were others. Like bags from Forever 21, and Charlotte Russe. Now unless that baby is going to pop out at fourteen  years old, they weren't just shopping for the baby. Adam was buying Brooke things, too.
"Why do they have Forever 21 bags?" I asked, everyone stayed quiet. "Adam told me they were shopping for the baby!"
"Maybe... They..." Amity started, but she couldn't come up with a reason.
"Marzia, come with me," I said as I stepped out of the booth, Marzia following.
"Why?" She asked.
I looked back. "To find out what's REALLY going on here."
