Chapter Four

The school day had finished and Zyla was on her way home, walking alone, deep in thought. What was it about Alex that she found it impossible to take him off her mind. Yes he is good looking but Zyla had seen enough good looking men in her life to not get fazed over them. But Alex, Alex was just different and awakenend feelings in Zyla that she had never felt before. She shook her head in frustration and gazed up to the sky. It was overcast and threatening to rain. Zyla shivered and rubbed her arms. She had forgotten her jacket at home in the worry of being late to school and the consequences were that she had felt cold through out the day. It was early october and winter was pushing itself in and sweeping into everyones homes. Halloween was arriving soon and Zyla still had to decide what she would go to the halloween party as. Walking quickly, arms wrapped around herself, she hurried down the street not wanting to spend too much time out in the cold. A car cruised down the street and stopped a few feet away. Zyla frowned not knowing who the black Porshe belonged to. The car was still waiting and Zyla was starting to feel afraid, thinking awful thoughts. She hastened her steps and passed the car, head bowed not daring to look at the car. Zyla had taken a few steps past it when she heard the horn blast behind her. Zyla stopped in her tracks, staring straight ahead, her eyes wide, skin pale and held her breath. The Porshe slid next to her and the window rolled down. Alex poked his head out and smiled at Zyla. She stared not understanding what the guy from her thoughts was doing infront of her. His first day and he was already in her head and now was parked infront of her. Zyla didnt know what to think."Hi, I was wondering if you wanted a lift?" Alex said. Zyla blinked a few times not understanding. His sweet velvety voice was effecting her senses. Zyla cleared her throat and swallowed a few times. Suddenly she blurted out, "Why?" Alex chuckled, "Well, I saw you shivering and thought it best to get you out of the cold before you come down with something. You also don't have a jacket." Zyla nodded her head and walked to the other side to get into the passengers seat. She slid into to the comfy leather seats and buckled her seatbelt. She turned to look at Alex and there eyes met. Zyla felt herself beginning to feel faint, slowly sinking into the pools of his lovely green eyes. Alex turned his eyes from her and started the car. They drove in silence, Zyla nervous about the close contact and her mixed feelings. How can she be feeling like this when she did'nt even know the guy and how could she have soo quickly trusted him that she was sitting in his car. He could be a murderer,he could be on the run after committing an awful crime and here she was trusting him soo easily. Zyla glanced at Alex from the corner of her eye. He was staring straight ahead, concentrating on his driving. He did'nt look like a killer or as if he was on the run. It seemed as if he had no care in the world. Alex glanced at her then turned back to the road. "Stop worrying. I'm not going do anything to you. I don't think you know but I actually live down the road from you." Zyla nodded her head embarrassed. She cast her mind back attempting to bring back the memory which was simmering at the top of her concious. At last it came to her. A few days ago she had seen people unloading furniture but had not thought much of it then as she had been extremely busy. "Oh, i'm sorry. Umm...do you need any help settling in?"Alex waited untill he had parked the car opposite her house before answering. "Thank you but everything has been set up." Zyla nodded her head and slid out of the Porsche. Turning back she threw Alex a quick smile and almost ran up to her front door. She slid the key into the lock, pushing the door open, Zyla turned. Alex was sitting in his car, staring at her. She blushed and smiled softly. Alex raised his hand and drove off. Zyla stood staring after him.
