On some rare occasions, there will be an OC/self-insert that will be rich. In which, you'd think there would be more of, since Ouran Academy is an environment more for high-classed citizens, but for some reason it's a plethora of middle-class to low-class citizens (at least in fanfics).
When there is an OC that is a high-class, however, it is dealt with very poorly in some cases.
Some high-class OC's dislike the fact that they're rich and just want to live like a normal middle-class citizen. I can somewhat understand if you use this if and only if your OC has been sheltered their whole life, or feel as if they don't have any special talents because of all the things that come to them easily. But most of the time the hatred of being rich is never explained by the OC or the narrator???
I don't know how it's for others, but if I was rich I'd probably be spoiled or at least like the life of luxuries, not be discontent with it. Who knows, maybe that's just me?
Another thing I see done a lot is that the high-class OC gets in by a scholarship.
I stand by what I said from the last chapter, that the scholarship will on be available to a person that's in a lower grade than any of the host club members if it's for academics. And if it's for music then that's a whole different ball game, still doesn't mean it's not overused in many scenarios.
And like, just because some of the guest & host are rich doesn't mean that they're spoiled. The host club is definitely far from that, they just happen to be a bit naive to the real world. Same with the guest and other upper class-men.
I tend to think about these things a lot when creating and developing my own ohshc OC, so I've had this stuck in my head for a while.
