Chapter 7: Why?

Wednesday, 5:41 P.M.

2 days to go, and the day that I'll move on will happen. Also, this is the last day that we'll practice because we need to rest on Thursday.

"Mananalo kaya tayo? Balita ko magaling daw yung banda ni Gio." Kurt said to all of us in the studio. I suddenly turned my attention to the conversation.

Mawi said proudly, "Oo naman yes." (He really speaks redundantly)

"Tsssk, kahit naman na matalo tayo, mananalo parin tayo in a way na natulungan na natin si Nixon." Kyle replied.

"Corny mo. Joke hahaha. Thank you nga pala sainyong lahat. Sa m-

Kurt interupted and didn't made me finish my speech, "Oh oh oh, yan ka nanaman. Tama na. Baka mamaya umiyak ka nanaman jan." Then we just laughed because of the way that Kurt delivered those words.

6:13 P.M.

After we packed our things in the studio, I then saw my mom waiting in front of the facility. Then Kyle said, "Nix, sige na. Puntahan mo muna mommy mo. Kami na bahala sa gamit mo."

"Sige"

As I opened the door, I asked, "Ma! Ano pong meron? Pauwi narin po ako eh, nagliligpit lang po." Then my mom said, "Nak, susunduin sana kita. May tao lang na gustong kumausap sayo doon sa bahay. Tara na?"

"Sige po ma, sino po ba yun?" I asked and thought who would find me.

My mom took a deep breath and said, "Daddy mo..."

(flashback)

Ma, bat nagliligpit si Dad ng gamit? May pupuntahan ba siya? I said as the master's bedroom door opens.

Then I saw my mother crying while kneeling on the carpet. I immediatly went to her and asked, "What's wrong?"

"Iiwan na tayo ng Daddy mo." She said sorrowly to me. After what she said, I ran to the closet where my Dad was. But as I checked, he wasn't there. So I ran again to the door of our house where I saw him in the car, turning the engine on.

I shouted, "Dad! Ano ba 'tong ginagawa nyo?"

(end of flashback)

After all these years, makakausap ko narin si Dad. I never saw him since nung nagdivorce sila ni Mommy noong 8 years old ako. Walang communication, contact, at address. The last words that he said to me before he left was, "Anak, maiintindihan mo rin kapag lumaki ka na..."  That's it. Nothing more.

Anyway, as I was remembering what my Dad looks like, my mom told me, "Anak, sabi kasi niya sakin gusto ka niya makausap at makamusta."

Well I know that my Mom is really chill about this because of the way she talks. But I also know that she misses my Dad.

So as I took my things and saying to my group, "Sige, ingat kayo." I immediately ran to the door of our car. My mother said, "Anak, ikaw muna mag drive."

As I was about to park the car, I saw a brand new sports car in front of our house. Then I thought, "Wow, maybe its Dad's car. He's been successful since he left us..." Anyway, as we got off the car, there's this one boy, about the age of 6, came to me and hugged my legs. As I looked at the kid, my mother told me, "Your Dad will explain it later."

I know what you're thinking, maybe the kid was my brother from a different mother. And I guess your right.

I came into the house and saw my Dad. He's wearing a fancy, black suit, fitted slacks, and a rolex watch. When he saw me, he walked to me and gave me a hug. This made me realized that my Dad still loves our family...but why did he leave us?

After we ate dinner, he explained everything to me before they left and he gave me something, an envelope. Its cointains a letter and a check. The letter is just a summary of what is happening in his life and why he did the leaving. In the letter, it just says that whenever I need help, I could call him. So that he could still fulfill his role being a parent to me and my sister. The check contains a big amount. I came to my mother and showed her the check, then she said to me that I should keep it for college.
