The Three Little Words I Never Thought I'd Say

Chapter 10

Hey guys, im sorry i haven't updated for like a month! I've been super busy with school work and my new job and all the stuff going on, i haven't had any time to write :P I hope there's people still reading this! haha :)

 Anna's POV:

    After supper, I climbed the elegant staircase to the bedrooms and stopped in front of the door. I took a deep breath and lightly tapped the wood. I was surprised when the door swung open, mere seconds after I'd knocked.

"Hey baby sister. What's up?" Kyle asked. The way he said it made me wonder if it had a double meaning. Maybe I was just being paranoid.

"I was just about to ask you the same thing" I suggested with one slender eyebrow raised.

"What possibly could you be talking about?" Kyle asked in his terrible girl voice. He tried so hard to make his face appear innocent, but I could see it cracking and the smile shine through. "C'mon". He motioned for me to enter the foreign vicinity of the house. As I stood there amazed at the cleanliness, Kyle whined. "C'mon sis. You know I do clean sometimes!" I turned around to face him and I stood there with my arms crossed, waiting for an answer. He must have finally understood my irritation when he asked, "Are you and Daniel having sex?"

"No" I nearly shouted at him.

"Just checking. I have to do my big brother responsibilities, you know." His face looked amused but I could see that he was only trying to protect me. "I do know that there is something going on between you too, though". How did he figure that out? As if reading my mind, Kyle said, "The way you two look at each other. You'd have ot be a complete idiot to not see it". I searched his amused, yet serious, face for answers. Had my parents known also? And Nic? "Let me tell you this," Kyle stepped closer, holding onto my shoulders, "If he ever hurts you, he will have me to deal with". That was, quite possibly, the first brother-sister moment we've had. I smiled at him, knowing he cares deeply for me. For I am, his one and only sister. He hugged me tight and I whispered, "thanks" into his ear. "No problem sis. I'm always here for you you know". He winked at me and I laughed, as I walked to my room. It was nothing. I assured myself. I shouldn't have been so nervous. Of course as soon as the nervousness scattered, it came right back when I remembered about the rest of my family.  I wonder if they know.. and with that, a very long, sleepless night was ahead of me.

Daniel's POV:

     After supper, I decided to go to my room and listen to music. I strolled to my car and scooped up my Ipod from the front seat. I trudged up the stairs and opened my door, only to find Nic in my room.

"What are you doing in my room?" I asked him, politely.

"I wanted to have a quick chat with you". My stomach dropped when he said that and I could tell that it wasn't going to be a pleasant "chat".

"What about?" I asked, as innocently as I could, because I had a feeling I knew where this was going.

"About my sister and you" He sounded a bit ticked off. Of course I couldn't understand why. "I just wanted to let you know that if anything ever happens, you will have Kyle and I to answer to". He walked towards me, taking two long strides so that we were almost touching. Now I'm no scrawny guy, But Nic, he's me, times two. He was totally intimidating, but I couldn't let him see that I was even slightly afraid of him. I looked at him and he stared me back in the eyes.

"I would never intentionally hurt her", I said,finally, after several minutes of a stare-down.

"You better" he said, sternly. Then he broke out into a smile. "Welcome to the family!" He enthused. i just stared at him, trying to understand what just happened.

"What?" I finally spit out.

"I said, welcome to the family. You're dating my sister so you might as well be our brother in law." He smiled at me. What the hell was this guy on? Then he hugged me and walked to the door. "Remember what I said,though. Don't mess with her". Then he slipped out of my room, leaving me baffled.
