I couldn't keep walking; my eyes were clouded over from crying. The stress of the day had finally broken me. Jody didn't answer her phone so I sent Matt a text. I knew he didn't have his car but I just needed someone and right then he was all I had. He told me to stay put and told me to wait. I did.
Ten minutes later Gage's truck pulled into the parking lot with Matt sitting right beside him. I had to do a double take as Matt got out of the passenger side and came over to me. He was dirty and smelled as he pulled me into his arms. "What happened?" He asked concern filled his voice.
"You smell like shit." I cried into his dirty neck.
"Should be used to that smell after all." He said shooting a look Gage's way.
I sighed looking away.
"Cute." I heard Gage say, "Do you need a ride somewhere or what? We need to get back to work or it'll be both our asses."
Matt looked at me, "Let us take you home."
I nodded as Matt opened the door and motioned me to slide in the middle seat, right next to Gage. I hesitated before climbing into the truck. My brother was up to something.
Gage started pulled the truck back into the road and started the drive back towards my house. He was quiet and his eyes stayed on the road.
"So what happened?" Matt finally asked.
I sighed, "You know how it is. I just lost it, I am so ready for all this bullshit to be behind me, I don't want to keep thinking about everything that happened and I sure as hell don't want to let him off that easy either."
"So don't be. Fuck him."
"Already did that." Gage mumbled as he turned onto my street.
I looked over at him as his words cut through me.
Matt looked over, "Dude, not helping."
He looked over and shrugged, "sorry. Just the driver."
My eyes watered up again.
Gage's phone buzzed on his leg, I looked down unaware that he had his cell phone back and read the name that popped up... "Jody". He reached down and turned the phone over.
I looked at him, "Jody? As in my best friend? The girl who hated that I dated you, who thought you were a loser and wanted nothing to do with you?"
He turned the truck into the driveway and pulled up to the door, he finally turned to look at me as I sat staring at him, my eyes burning holes through him. I was furious, what was she doing texting him? He looked back at me, "What?"
"Why is she texting you Gage?"
He smiled at that moment, "Don't ask questions you don't want the answer too Bliss."
I wanted to rip his smug smile off those gorgeous lips of his. God how could he still do that to me, make me want him so bad even if I wanted to hate him.
He turned away before replying, "Why don't you ask her why she's texting me and I'll just confirm or deny."
I shook my head and scooted out of the truck. "Fuck you both." I said.
"Been there done that." He said as Matt got back into the truck.
Gage put his truck into drive and headedout of the driveway leaving me watching as he left.
