After Matt spread the word about the get together at the country club this weekend, everyone seemed to be flocking towards me. Everyone except for Bliss whose eyes seemed to be like daggers through me every time I looked her way. The girls would all come up to me in the hallways and in my classes all wanting to get to know me. Matt helped with that of course telling some that they could see me completely shirtless and dripping wet from the pool water over the weekend if they showed up. I had to admit all the attention was fun while it lasted.
"Must be nice being friends with your enemy." Racers text message stopped me in my tracks.
Was he jealous? Or mad I had kind of forgot about him today with all the attention but I would make it up to him later. "No worries you're still my best friend, I'll talk to you after class."
I walked into my last class for the day, it was also the last class that I shared with Bliss. The teacher walked in moments later, we all settled down and waited for instructions.
"Okay people lets get settled. I want to get right into it today. As you know it is about that lovely time in the semester where finals are coming up. Instead of the standard testing most of you will endure, I have decided to throw out the test and put my own spin on your final this year. You will be partnered up, which are already predetermined, and you will write a paper. Listen for your names as I partner you up. Once you have your partners I will tell you what you will be writing about."
I listened for my name, waiting and hoping I got with someone who was a good writer because I was far from it. I could bullshit my way through anything in writing but when it came to the fundamentals, I was completely useless.
"And Gage you and Bliss will be partners. Will there be a problem there?" He asked looking at both of us.
I looked at Bliss who shot me a glance before we both replied with a, "No, no problem at all sir."
"Good. Now that all the teams are sorted out, are you all ready to hear what the assignment is?"
I tuned out realizing that I would be forced to work closely with Bliss on a final project. That meant some alone time that I didn't think either one of us were ready for. My attention cut back into the room when the final bell rang and everyone started to clear out. I turned to where Bliss sat but she was already out the door. I hurried to catch up to her, "Bliss wait!"
She turned to me; irritation filled her expression, "What Gage?"
"Sorry but I didn't hear what the assignment was supposed to be about, did you?"
She looked me up and down, "Guess all that female attention really got to your head already, I'll text you with your part of it." With that she walked away leaving me watching her hips shake as she turned the corner.
Matt came up behind me, "I can not wait until this weekend! The girls are ready to see you!"
I laughed, "And you're getting what out of this?"
"Shit I'm getting left overs but I am okay with that. I'll gladly be the wingman here buddy."
We walked out into the parking lot, past Racer and Hannah who watched as I nodded in their direction. Racer eyed me before getting into his car. Hannah followed suit. I shrugged and kept walking.

"You coming in?" Matt asked when I didn't park the truck.
"Yeah sure." I through the truck in park and turned off the engine. My phone buzzed it was a text from Racer, I'd read it later.
