The wolf crawled towards the two crying humans. She softly nuzzled Gene's hand as if to say
"I'm sorry" to him but Star was given the
'cold shoulder'.She then tried to lick his face, avoiding the cut left by Lila, but was shoved away this time.
"It's all her fault...."
Tom whispered. The boy looked at the wolf with hot tears still rolling down his cheeks. "It's all her fault!" Tom said with more venom in his voice. The boy stood up and kicked the wolf in the stomach. "Tom! What'd you do that for!?!" Gene yelled. "It's all her fault?" The boy screamed repeatedly while he still kicked the downed wolf. "TOM CUT IT OUT!" The boy's father grabbed him by the arm and managed to get him off the now crippled wolf. Star looks to her master, pleading for his help, desperately needing his care. She crawls to him with her front legs. But what happened next....was the unthinkable. The she wolf was met with the full force of her masters rage and sorrow. He kicked the she wolf right in the muzzle. A few tears drizzled down her cheeks, for her master betrayed her loyalty, faith, and her love for him. But all of that doesn't matter anymore, mostly because after the first kick he kept on going.
Yelp after Yelp, plea after plea, Star decided to give in to this pain. After a while of blacking out, the wolf woke up to find that she was alone and her body was healed even her legs were fixed. Without thinking Star bolted out of the house she called her home. And yet, even though her body was healed, her mind and soul were broken, her heart was shattered.
She was evicted from the only place she called home.
