The Abuse

My hackles rise with each step she takes.

I suppress a growl but only end up making it lower and more hostile.......

Closer.......one step at a time....

She's carrying something in her hand.
I don't know if it's a piece of pipe or a mirror, it is some sort of shiny object.
Could it be a knife?

But, if that were the case why would she try to hurt me?!??

I fight the urge to bare my teeth.

She's a human, and humans are nice and and

(She's getting closer.)

and won't cause harm to me......right??

RIGHT??!!?!

I try to hide with in myself. But before I knew it.

It was too late.......

I was grabbed by the scruff of my neck
and thrown across the room.

I hear a snap and a crack.....

I didn't know what was going on but all I knew was I couldn't breathe.

Her eyes smile as I choke on air, I try my best to stand back up.

But she didn't allow me to do so.

Instead she steps on my back then gradually applies pressure until I whine and yelp for mercy.

She lifted her foot off my back puts her hand on my neck then strangles me and slams me on the floor like I'm some sort of rag doll.

When I thought she was finished, she grabs the scruff of my neck for one last time. With her free hand...

She picked up the knife and........

"Lila what are you doing!!!??" Gene yelled.

"Oh thank goodness you're up my love, she was about to bite me."

"Then why is she on the floor."

"Well I guess I took it a little overboard but who cares."

"I care, Star is like a daughter to me. We have each other's back."

"Oh please, it's just a stupid dog, besides is she more important to you than me."

"Both of you are my family and one on the way. Don't put me in this position Lila."

I can barely lift my head up of the floor. My eyelids feel heavy I pass out in total darkness.

Even though Gene had asked Lila to stop abusing Star she didn't stop. Each beating was more intense than the last. Star eventually started sleeping outside,but that didn't stop Lila.

One day while Gene was off mending fences with his son, Lila found an old bull whip while cleaning the cow shed.

Star was taking a peaceful nap in the afternoon sun until Lila came.

"Well hello little wolf" Lila grins gleefully.

Oh great she has a rope in her hands, this day couldn't get any better.

Lila raised her arm then all that could be heard was the thundering crack of a whip.

Blood spews onto the ground. The open wounds are fresh and still bleeding.

Why won't she just leave me alone....

I mean I haven't done anything bad to her.
My blood is the only thing keeping me warm but I'm getting colder the more I lose.

She still smiles, I wonder if she's gone mad.

Lila sees horses in the horizon.

She has stopped beating me. Why? As soon as I heard the whiney of a horse I knew exactly why. My master is coming.
