benjamin blaise' artworks were different, no one really knew what his paintings were of—but ramona admired them nonetheless. benjamin blaise' paintings were different, but they were beautiful.

whilst ramona's paintings were full of white's grey's black's, ben's had been a palette of colour. ben, was the total opposite of what his paintings portrayed. everyone knew artists' works define their personalities most of the time, and yet, that observation somehow did not apply to benjamin blaise.

ben was quiet, reserved. he was a lone wolf, having little to non-existent friends and as much as ramona would happily admit that he was a friend, she certainly was not his. ben paid little to no attention to ramona kavinsky. it was as if she didn't exist. it was as if no one around him existed. or actually, it was more like he was the one who didn't exist. in reality, at least.

ben had his own little world, somewhere. ramona had assumed that was why he never seemed to be there. her fleeting smiles were invisible, so were her hesitant waves.

when ben disappeared one day, ramona had spent her days and nights to find him. no one else seemed curious of where he had gone, not even her group of friends. darcy, nick, henry—they didn't seem too bothered that one of their classmates had vanished.

but then ramona realized that disappearing was just a benjamin thing to do and so she stopped looking. she stopped glancing over her shoulder to see if ben was there, she stopped unconsciously going to the art room where he always was.

ramona's feelings started to vanish with him the longer time went on—and now that she thinks about it, maybe she loved his paintings instead of the painter and ben just came along with them as a package, maybe she didn't truly hand her heart over to him. but he still broke it anyway without knowing.

somewhere in the back of her mind, she still wonders where benjamin blaise disappeared to.
