sometimes, the whole henry ordeal reminds ramona of nick. though when she finally realized how she felt for her best friend, she didn't feel any sense of the disappointment she had felt when she realized she had fallen for the most conceited boy in eighth grade, because it was henry who she had known since she was two, or so her mother had said—several times.

henry was ramona's first boyfriend, and she was glad for that. she didn't know how to explain it, but because he was her best friend, he was safe. it was easy to like him.

and when they broke it off, it was mutual. very.
despite everything that happened between them, things are still the same. henry lane is still ramona kavinsky's best friend. she looked it up in the dictionary once, the definition of a soulmate. a person ideally suited to another as a close friend or romantic partner. henry was a potential romantic partner, but that was almost a century ago and he was—is—her best friend, so she supposes that they can't get any closer than that.

ramona kavinsky loved henry lane, she probably always will, and that's okay. because all she knows, is that she's happy. if she falls for her best friend again, she'll be happy. and if she doesn't, she'll be happy. and that's the only thing that matters to her.
