More than brothers

Will's body froze and he slowly turned around to face Tessa. He was slightly taller than her and for the first time she saw his face emotionless. Will looked her in the eyes and she prepared for the cold shiver that she feels everytime he looks at her. This time she felt nothing. Nothing more than the pain in the heart when she found out that Jem was gone.
"What do you mean James is gone?" he asked with a cold tone.
"I-I went to his room. H-he wasnt there."-said Tessa and felt the tears fall down her cheeks.
"Maybe he wasn't in his room?"
"Will.....h-he left me this." said Tessa and handed the letter to Will. He opened it without taking his eyes off Tessa and then looked at the letter. The girl saw that his face became even more pale now and when he looked back to her she saw fear in his eyes.
"A BURDEN? JAMES THINKS HE IS A BURDEN?"- Will yelled and Tessa felt a shiver, this time not out of love, she was scared of the coldness of his voice.
"I-I have n-no idea why h-he would think that." -said Tessa wiping the tears away.
"Yeah, you clearly showed him that you have a crush on him last night"
Tessa froze, she didnt think that Will would say something like that.
"I dont know what you mean, William" -The lady knew that he didnt like it when she calls him with his full name.
"Yeah right, nightdress with a bathrobe? In Jem's room while he is shirtless? Oh please Tessa, i can smell the love coming out from you"
Tessa's lips turned to a small line, she turned around and walked away. She made two steps and turned her head to see Will for the last time before leaving and said:
"You wouldnt notice love even if it hits you on the forehead. James needs us, we must find him, think about that" and then she got back to the dining room.
As she walked past the dining table she noticed that there was no one there. Everyone were gone to do their chores. Even Jessie was gone. Tessa walked to her room and when she came in, she quickly closed the door and fell on her knees. She couldnt hold the tears anymore and just let them fall. She wanted to scream and cry out loud, she could do that, because the walls of the rooms were marked with silence runes. She just wanted to let everything out, but when she opened her mouth to scream there was no sound. She just sat there on the ground crying silently. Jem was gone, Will treated her like she was just another call-girl. She couldnt tell anyone about this because no one would understand her. She crawled closer to the fire in her room and stared at it while crying. The pain she felt couldnt be described in words. Tessa lifted her hand and put iy in the fire. She felt her skin burning but it was alright. At least the physical pain helped get rid of the emotional pain. She laid on the floor and stared at the ceiling. Its been hours since she left her room and suddenly she heard a knock on her room. Was it Will? No, Will wouldnt come here looking for her, why would he? He blamed her for Jem's dissapearing. She could see it in his eyes.
"Who is there?" asked Tessa with low voice.
"Its me, Tessa, Charlotte." Charlotte's voice was soft.
Tessa stood up and slowly went to open the door. Right now she didnt care how awful she looked, or how bad her hand was.
When Tessa opened the door, Charlotte had a smile on her face and she was just about to say something....until she saw Tessa. Charlotte's face became pale white, there was anxiety in her eyes. And it was for a reason. Tessa looked awful. While she was crying she pulled her hair out of the bun and it looked like a bird's nest. Her eyes were cherry red and her skin was pale . the dress was burned om the fire and her hand looked awful. There was a huge burn mark on her hand. Charlotte was shocked! And what made her even more worried was the low voice and the empty look on Tessa's face when she began to speak.
"How can i help you, Charlotte?"
"By the Angel! Tessa! What happened to you?! Look at your hand!"
Just now Tessa looked at herself.
"I am ok Charlotte, how can i help you?"
"You, young lady, need help, come with me, you need to get dressed and then i will help you with the bad burn mark on your hand."
Charlotte fast helped Tessa to get dressed and told her to sit on the bed, then she called Sophie to get some sort of ointment and treated Tessa's hand.
"Tell me what is wrong Tessa, please." said charlotte with a soft voice.
The dark haired girl just sat there staring at the mirror in front of her and said with a low voice:
"Jem is gone. He left me, left us. He thinks he is a burden."
"By the Angel! Why did he do that?"
"I dont know, Will is blaming me and i dont evem knoe what happened."
"Dont be sad about that Tessa, Will blames everyone. You know the parabatai bond makes Will and Jem even more than brothers and each of them is ready to die for the other one. We will find him Tessa, dont worry"
"I must find him. Dont try to do anything, i will go."
Tessa saw Charlotte putting her hand on her stomach as her face changed from caring to worried.
"Tessa.....you cant go alone, at least let Will come with you."
"Yeah sure, i guess you are right, he might help me...."
Charlotte nodded and left the room. A couple of minutes later Tessa heard another knock on the door. She went to open and saw Will standing there.
"Hi" he said looking at his feet.
"Good evening Mr.Herondale, how can i help you?" said Tessa with an angry tone.
"Come on Tess, im sorry for my behaviour earlier.... I didnt want to be rude, i just want to find Jem, will you help me?"
"I will" said Tessa looking directly at his eyes.
"Come with me." said Will leading her to Jem's room. The blue eyed boy opened the door and came in. Everything was just like Jem left it, the bed, wardrobe, everything. Will made a few steps towards the desk and started looking for something.
He moved a few paper sheets and took the silver Carstairs family ring between his fingers. The boy sat on the bed, took out his Steele and drew aru ne on his hand. He put the ring between his hands and closed his eyes. Tessa stared at him like a couple of minutes and then he suddenly opened his eyes.
"I know where Jem is."
"And where is he?" asked Tessa with a calm tone. Will looked directly at Tessa's eyes and looked at her for a minute. Then he said:
"He.....he is in the City of Bones."
