We sit down on the couch. I observe the living room's black and white theme. Simple and beautiful.
"How long have you and Harry been friends?" His mom sits down resting her hands in her lap after moving a string of hair out of her face.
"Uh, almost a month I would say. Not long but it seems like forever." I answer truthfully giving a polite smile.
She nods her fingers tapping against her knee. I look at her dark brown colored hair that falls a little pass her shoulders, she repositions herself so that she's leaning against the arm of the couch and asks Harry a question.
"How come you never bring your friends around? I really like this girl."
My mouths curves into a smile as I bow my head shyly. I murmur a 'thank you' at the same time when Harry shrugs his shoulders answering the question.
"Harry moved here three years ago, at first he didn't have many friends becau-" Before his mom could finish Harry coughed loudly interrupting her shaking his head no.
I tilt my head to the side wondering the reason. He'a so known and popular now, I wonder how that changed.
"Im guessing that story is for another time. I should go get cooking before Gemma gets home."
I assumed that Gemma is his sister and get up to hug Harry's mother thanking her for her time and company. She leaves the living leaving me and Harry alone silence filling the air but it's comfortable silence.
"Why didn't you let her finish?" I cross my arms stretching out my legs.
"Because it's my business, I tell who I want, when I want." He brushes the subject off.
"Okay, well just know that you can trust me. Im not one of those judgmental jerks."
I sit back on the couch intertwining my fingers. Harry moves a bit close towards me kicking his shoes off and folding his legs on the couch. He turn his body towards me his hands pulling up his shirt a little.
"These leaves are a symbol of resourcefulness and endurance. Why did I get them? Don't ask. Maybe I'll tell you some day." He gently pulls his shirt back down and lays his head against the couch.
"I have a tattoo also." I lift the side of my shirt revealing the 'Bellissima' tattoo I had gotten.
"And that means?"
"Not telling you. Maybe I'll tell you some day." I copy his words making him laugh a little. "So care to tell me about your life?" I question him my eyes looking at the wall observing the pictures that hang.
"My life isn't interesting so how about you tell me about yours?" He leans against his right hand smiling.
"I'll tell you about mines after you tell me about yours." He groans but continues to talk anyways.
"I was born in Redditch, United Kingdom note the English accent. I have an older sister named Gemma, my mum and biological dad are divorce but she does have a boyfriend and he's not that bad actually. I came to the U.S when I was twelve years old going on thirteen, we wanted something new I guess. That's all Im telling you right now. How about your life?" He runs his hand through his hair waiting for me to speak.
"Alright. I was born in Boca Raton, Florida of course. Im an only child, my mom and biological father are also divorce, she doesn't have a boyfriend from what I know. I lived here all my life, I transferred schools also looking for something new I guess." I stop there my fingers tracing the design of the couch pillow.
"That's all?"
"Well you only shared a small portion so I did the same."
"Okay, now tell me about you. Not where you were born and raised but who you are actually." His eyes focus on me while his fingers trace the stitching on his jeans.
"Who I am? Well uh, I would say Im goofy yet serious, I can joke around until the subject is about something really serious. I don't enjoy having people lie to me. I love music, it's something that I find peace with, Im not the type to socialize so much but Im also not the type to keep to myself everyday all day. I live for the small things in life like how much it rains one day but how sunny and hot it is the next day."
"That sounds too good to be true, we all have downfalls in life. What's one of yours?" Harry puts his chin in the palm of his hands and tilts his head to the side waiting.
"Of course, I have multiple downfalls but one would be moving. I've moved a lot during my life and every time I do I end up going to a different school. I think that's the reason why I don't socialize much anymore because I can't get attached to someone who I call my friend and then leave." I fiddle my fingers a strand of my hair falling into my face.
"Well don't worry about that. This year you'll become a social butterfly." He chuckles.
"Well tell me about you. Who are you Styles and what's one of your downfalls in life?" I smiled excited to know more about him instead of knowing nothing.
"I'll tell you one thing. Im scared of-"
He stops mid-sentence and mutes himself. I sigh laying my hand on his leg.
"Im guessing that is for another time?"
He nods yes and leans back on the couch avoiding eye contact. I turn to the tv watching as he clicks through the channels looking for something good to watch. I lay my head on his shoulder thinking about what he would've told me and why he didn't tell me. I ignore the thoughts and close my eyes breathing in his scent, I relax and smile happy that I learned a few things about him.
