The next time I woke up, the sky was dark. I stood up feeling dizzy, I didn't remember where I was at. I staggered my way to hit the light switch and I saw my room. "Wow...it's beautiful." I had completely forgotten what the room had looked like, and with the lights on, it seemed almost majestic. White painted walls, large windows with draping curtains that sway with the slight breeze blowing. I take a look around the room and find myself dancing. Spinning around and taking steps as if I were in a ballroom, it was a magical moment for me.
I stopped dancing and checked my phone, the time was half an hour past midnight and I had two notifications. Text from my ex-mother and one from my friend Julie.
Agh! I forgot to text them when I arrived! Oh man, I keep forgetting things...
I send a text to both of them, explaining what had happened and how the trip went. The only one who replied right away was Julie who seemed very excited to talk with me. She ended up calling me and we talked about many things kind of like how we use to.
Two hours later:
We finally hang up the phone and I notice the time, "Oh boy, it is very late and I'm getting hungry..." my stomach loudly growls, "...I should go eat." I slowly open my door and sneak to the stairs.
Hehe I'm a sneaky ninja, nobody can catch me-!
A light turns on which makes the stairway bright. Then my father spoke, "What are you doing up this late?" I turn around feeling a bit scared that I was caught, "U-um...n-nothing daddy, I was just a little hungry." He smiles and steps out of his room, then joins me at the top of the stairs, "Funny, cause I am feeling hungry too. C'mon, let's go make something to eat." He stretches out his hand towards me and I accept it, holding his hand we walk downstairs into the kitchen.
He is really sweet, I'm so happy.
We walk into the kitchen and he pulls out a bowl, "I think I'm in the mood for some cereal, what about you?" I nod slowly, not knowing exactly what else there might be. He serves himself a bowl and does the same for me. "Thank you daddy." I carefully take my bowl to the table and sit down, eating my cereal before he can sit with me.
Once he sits down, he looks at me and opens his mouth, "So...tell me about yourself."
One hour and thirty minutes later:
"...and that is pretty much it." I finish speaking and smile. He smiles back at me, "Well I'm glad I could know my daughter better, I feel guilty for not being there for you." He looks down shamefully, so I stand up and wrap my arms around his neck, giving him a hug. "It's okay daddy, only now really matters." I lightly kiss his cheek and he softly chuckles, "Yeah, you're right sweetheart. I'm happy you're here. We should also be getting to bed." I let go of him and ask, "Do you want me to wash the dishes?" He laughs, "No sweetie, that is why we have a maid, it is her job to clean."
It will take some time for me to get use to this change.
I smile at him, "Oh okay, well, goodnight daddy." I start to make my way back to my room. "Goodnight sweetheart..." He turns off the lights and heads to bed. I lay there in my room, facing the ceiling doing nothing until finally I close my eyes and fall asleep.
