Chapter 7

Xander's POV:

When I saw the arrow pierce Angeline's body and heard her scream in pure agony, I wanted to kill whoever the arrow belonged to. I saw the assassin jump dow from the tree he was hiding in, I went over and snapped his neck. I shifted back to human and ran over to Angeline who was still in her wolf form. I asked her "Can you shift back for me, Angel please" She whimpered then shifted.

I reached over and pulled the arrow out of her side. She howled in pain and I cringed wanting to ease her pain. She was gasping for air and tried saying " Devilfire...poison...back...to...Lucy" I gasped and put my arms under her. She screamed in agony again and her eyes rolled to the back of her head. Once I had her in my arms safely I ran back to the pack house.

I mind-linked Lucy to get her supplies ready, and as I was running by I saw my sister come out from a path around the pack house. She looked at me with a smile, but it soon fell from her face and it only took her a few seconds to have tears form in her eyes. I finally got to Lucy and set Angeline down on the bed and stood straight asking Lucy "Is she going to be okay?"

Lucy replied "I don't know yet, and you need to leave if you don't then I will be forced to ask the guards and your Beta to come escort you" I sighed and then walked out knowing that if I left then she will be able to concentrate more. I walked out of the pack house and found my sister sitting on the steps with tears rolling down her face and her mate, Brendon trying to console her.

I went over and put a hand on her shoulder. She looked up at me then got up and hugged me tight. She asked in a croaky voice "What happened to Angeline, Xander, Will she be okay?" I said "An assassin shot her with an arrow and I don't know if she will be okay" She tilted her head and said "But, why would anyone want to kill Angeline?" I answered " I don't know" Brendon spoke up "Uh Xander you have blood all over you"

I looked down and saw that my shirt was covered in Angeline's blood. My hands were also bloody. I said "Excuse me I'll just go clean up a bit" I went to the bedroom and right when I walked in I was greeted with Angeline's scent of red roses and lavender. I was stunned for a second and then continued to wash up, after I washed up I went straight to Lucy's office to check on Angeline. When I got there I saw Lucy sitting at her desk, furiously typing away on her computer, but I didn't see Angeline.

I walked up to Lucy's desk and asked "Where's Angeline?" She looked up and said "She in the pack house ICU unit" I gasped and asked "Why she was only shot with an arrow?" Lucy gave me a look and said " That arrow was dipped in Devilfire poison" I then felt light headed and sat down in the office chair. "But shouldn't you have taken care of her and shouldn't she be here right now" Lucy rolled her eyes and said "The certain Devilfire mixture used was mixed with something unknown, something stronger that pushes it through your bloodstream faster " I gaped at her and then asked my final question " Can I go see Angeline now?" Lucy nodded but then said " You can, but you might want to take someone with you plus a few bodyguards just in case" I nodded then high tailed it out of there and when I got to the hospital...
