Settling In

Chloe, first shows me the kitchen, to sit at the bar to try what she calls "Stargazey pie". The dish looked like sweet bread with fish heads and tails sticking out of it, luckily my mother fed me plenty of food before I left stating, "you won't have a good home cooked meal for a while", now I understand what she means.

"I would love to have some, but mum packed me full before I left," I explained exaggerating my full stomach, "I'd explode if I took another bite. I appreciate the offer though, thank you."

"I'm guessing she said something along the lines that I'm a bad cook huh?" she said slightly laughing.

"She might've hinted at it." I said in a guilty tone.

"That Violet," Chloe said laughing a little louder than before, "She's always been such a smartarse."

I was surprised how open she was, of course I curse myself but my parents weren't to fond of it, something along the lines of "breaking the stereotypes", she noticed my surprised reaction.

"Oh, sorry, excuse my french." Chloe tells me while putting a horrific accent on 'french' which made me laugh, "Ugh, don't tell me that your mum has stopped cursing," I nod, "I need to call Eirnin to stop making my sister weirder than she already is, anyways enough chit chat you probably want more sleep. I'll show you to your new room."

Chloe leads me out of the kitchen to the main corridor to head up the stairs to one hallway with five doors, which I assumed to be bedrooms or bathrooms. She showed me to the second door to the left, "Well here's your room, you have you mattress in there but no bed frame we're going shopping for that sometime this week, until then, relax." she told me as the door got closer to closing with every word.

I laid down on my bed and within a minute I was out.

It took me, roughly, forty-five minutes to cook everything and plate it for us to enjoy. Chloe comes back downstairs as I'm rummaging through her cabinets for food containers, "Top cabinet, next to the fridge." she tells me, and there they were clear tublewear with red lids. I put the leftovers away, as it is a habit, then went into the dining room to enjoy my dinner. Chloe then asked if I wanted wine, if so which one I prefered, white or red. I accepted asking for red wine, she said I was smart for choosing that because she didn't have white wine, she never does because she hates white wine herself.

"This is truly amazing, Amber," Chloe says before she puts another bite into her mouth, "You're okay with Amber right?"

"Yeah I'm fine with Amber, Amberlee, Lee-Am, Ambee, and anything you can make up, heck, you could even call me Rae like Finn does."

"I like Lee-Rae, seems a little strange, but I'm strange so it's normal to figure out weird names."

"Don't worry about it I love it," I say thinking about my new nickname, "It's truly unique, I haven't even heard or thought of that."

I was just about to get up to go and wash the dishes when Chloe takes them from me, "Now, I might suck at cooking," she said, "but I am a cleaning master." she tried so hard to make that sound cool but it didn't work out, I can understand that completely.

"I'm guessing it sounded cooler in you head-" "-than it did in my head? Yeah" she interrupted, finished my question, and answered it.

I leave Chloe to do what she, apparently, is a master at to go into my room to unpack my boxes that were making a fort in my room. I started with a box labeled Decor it's the best to start with, to make the room to feel more like my own. I start by putting up posters of pictures I took of the farm, putting up my teal curtains, and finally taking my typewriter out missing the feeling of typing all of the stress away. I have a lot to catch up on, it's been weeks since I've touched this old thing, but I can't leave a blank space in my writing.
