Once again, I had mentioned this under the “Publicity” page. Commenting may be one of the most amazing ways to get your name out there! By commenting on someone’s story, all other people who read this persons story see who you are and your comment. If you do a serious comment such as:
“I really enjoyed this chapter! I felt you used some very descriptive words and had a good balance of dialogue and description.” Instead of something such as:
“LOVED IT!” then not only will people see you like their story, but will see what you like about their story.
Remember, if you don’t like something about the chapter, don’t, and I mean don’t say anything bad about that person or their writing. If you say:
“I found that this chapter was slightly less exciting as the last couple” instead of:
“Man, this chapter was SOO boring, dude! What’s your problem today? Did you like write this at 4 AM? WAKE UP AND FIX YOU MISTAKES!” Even though giving critique is very helpful to a writer, in my opinion when someone says something like this it actually doesn't help me. You can be totally honest when you comment but try not to be rude, it may be helpful to some but to others it just hurts them.
What I'm trying to say is, don't be all sweet about your comments, unless you just love EVERYTHING about it, but don't be too mean. Give you opinion on the chapter:
*What was good
*What was bad
*What you would change
*Spelling or grammar errors (if there are any and if you want to mention it)
*And anything else you think might be important to point out or useful for the author to know
But you have to make sure to say what is wrong about the chapter. You can't say you didn't like the chapter compared to the others and not say why. Be critical but don't be rude! This will improve the writing of the author, which will help them in the long run. Who knows, maybe they'll do the same for you!
Remember, commenting will put your name out there and help other people improve their writing!
