Vic's POV

I shouldn't have agreed to this ridiculous double date. Never in my life have I decided to do something so pathetic and cheesy. I thought this was something Kellin would want to do, but he seemed so shy yesterday. Hopefully he doesn't revert back to that socially awkward guy that I had met on our first date. I didn't want him to go off and embarrass me. Well, what's done is done.

Kellin sat in the passenger seat of my car while he searched through my phone to find a new song to play. "You nervous to meet my friends?" I asked, looking down at him. He had barely spoken since I had picked him up. I was getting a vibe that he didn't like meeting new people.

"They're just people Vic," he said, shrugging as if he wasn't bothered by the situation at all. He was acting strange, but I couldn't quite understand why.

"Well, you're gonna talk to them this time, right?"

He looked up at me, offended and confused. "And what is that supposed to mean?" He asked as if he were interrogating me.

"I don't want it to be awkward with all of us talking and you just sitting on the side, watching and picking at your food. You act differently around people you don't know; I just don't want them to think you're weird," I spoke truthfully.

"So, you think I'm socially awkward," he said in a small voice.

"I didn't say that Kellin. You're just... shy."

"I'm not that shy, Vic. I know how to be social." Kellin said in a slightly defensive tone as we drove down the jet black street to our destination.

"Yeah, you were super social on our first date." I chuckled, my eyes still focused on the road. "Especially when you ran out on me, not weird at all."

"Well, I can't help it if I'm kind of freaked out. But I know how to interact with people." There was a short silence as Kellin took a breath, "You're making me sound like some anti-social freak"

I turned to look at him, only taking my eye off of the road for a split second. He had his head sunk low and was avoiding all means of eye contact.

"You aren't a freak Kell. There's nothing wrong with you in the slightest, and honestly," I sighed "I wish you'd just take my word on that," Kellin was always doubting and putting himself down. It was almost like he refuses to admit how interesting and cute he was.

Kellin just hummed in response. He may have said "Okay," but it was barely audible. As I continued to drive I could see him fidgeting with his phone; he was scrolling through his music. Finally settling on a song, he placed his phone down and closed his eyes.

Before he could get too into the song, we approached the entrance restaurant and I parked the car as soon as I found a spot. He sighed -most likely because he liked the song he had put on- but got out of the car with me.

Once we were out of the car, I took the lead and walked forward. Kellin held my hand and I could feel his palms sweating. Though we were hand in hand, he still drifted behind me. He was living up to the standard of being very shy and we hadn't even seen Jack and Alex yet.

"You scared?" I chuckled. Kellin was the first really nervous person I've ever met. Everyone else I knew was so confident and carefree.
