We spent the night fighting. She said she had to go because it was her duty. I said she had a choice. It went back and forth like that. Crying and yelling. Not how I wanted to spend the first and probably last night with my baby girl. When we stopped yelling she stood by the door.
"I don't know why anything changed. I don't know why I choose to come here before seeing my mom." I looked at her hurt. She looked away. Tried to get close to her but she held up her hand.
"Don't. Just don't." I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out. She grabbed her pack and opened the door. I was now sobbing. She glanced back but walked out slamming the door behind her. My mind caught up to what was happening. When I opened the door she was getting in the back seat of a black car. She didn't even look at me. I fell to the ground and sobbed. When I had calmed down enough, I walked back inside and grabbed my phone. I dialed Jen.
"She's gone." Was all I said when she answered before hanging up. I went up stairs and laid on my bed crying softly.
About 10 minutes later my room door cracked open before opening all the way. Jen walked to bed and sat before leaning back and pulling me into her arms. I fell asleep curled into her side.

Jens POV
When her breathing evened indicating she was asleep I moved her under the covers. I got up and dialed Emilees number.
"What Jen?" Her harsh tone came when she answered after my third time calling her.
"What happened?" I moved down stairs and into the kitchen.
"I'm going back to Iraq." I almost dropped the glass of water that was in my hand.
"Uhh." Was all I could manage.
"I'm leaving tonight. I was going to leave tomorrow but we got in a fight so I decided to leave early." She told me why the fought and how it ended.
"I'm sorry." She was crying on the other end.
"Baby don't cry. You need to do what you feel is right." I was crying myself.
"Thank you Jen. Tell Lana not to write."
"Why?" I placed a hand behind me on the counter to hold me up.
"Because. It has to be this way. Bye Jen." The dead buzz sounded. I put my phone down and walked back up the stairs and crawled in bed with a tired Lana. I played with her hair till I fell asleep.

Lanas POV
It's been about 2 and a half years sense I last talked to Emilee. I put on a smile and made it look like everything was ok. I know Jen talked to Emilee I heard her. I've talked to her about it as well. We were on set going over our lines for the day.
"How do I do this Lana?" Jen asked showing me were she was at. I cleared my throat.
"That's not how it goes." I said in a very deep famine voice. She cleared hers and repeated. I giggled at her attempt.
"I knew you could go low but not that low." I leaned over and kissed her. Despite what Emilee told Jen I still send her Holliday cards. I don't care what she does as long as she knows I'm not going to give up. I sat back and kept reading my lines. The rest of the day consisted of going over lines and practicing. I went home and cooked one of Emilees favorite. White chili. Even though she's not here I still make things she would eat.
While the chicken was boiling the door bell rang. I whipped my hands on the towel next to the stove and went to answer it. I peeked through the peep hole to see Emilees parents standing there. My heart dropped. I put on the best smile I could muster and opened the door.
"Hi." They both smiled at me.
"We were wondering if your like to come to Emilees homecoming party?" My mouth was agape so I closed it.
"I - uh- Emilee doesn't exactly want to see me." She looked at Jerry.
"Will you wait in the car?" He nodded and walked to the rental car. I motioned for her to come in. I closed the door behind her and led her to the living room. We sat down across from each other on the couches.
"Emilee told me what happened." I looked to see that she wasn't mad but smiling.
"She did?" She laughed a little.
"Yes. She told me how you were so protective of not wanting her to go back after being MIA for a year. She sent me the video of when she was on set. I saw how you were." I was stunned. I thought Emilee would have talked negative about me but she didn't.
"Really?" She nodded her smile not once faulting.
"She also told me that your like another mom to her. With Emilee it takes more than one to raise her." I smiled at her before remembering my chicken. I jumped up and ran to the stove shutting off the flame. She came up behind me and examined my ingredients on the counter.
"Are you making white chili?" I stirred it.
"Yes I am. I made it for Emilees birthday the time she was out here." I drained the water and started to shred the chicken.
"Where's a can opener?" I bugged open a drawer and grabbed my black hand one.
"Here." She took it from my hand and started to open the cans. When she was finished she
Took out her phone and texted who I presumed was Emilees dad.
"He can just walk in." I put in a few more things along with the rinsed beans and let it warm up. Jerry came in the kitchen and stood there awkwardly.
"Would you guys like to stay for dinner?" I suggested.
"That would be nice thank you." I nodded and took out four plates and set the table. By the time it was all finished Jen walked in from the garage.
"Honey who's car is out front?" She looked up from her phone. "Oh hi!" She smiled as she walked over to me at the head of the table. I leaned back and she pecked my lips. She sat next to me.
"Hi!" Marianna gave a small wave. Jerry lifted his hand slightly.
"So about the party when and were?" I scooped me up some and crushed some tortilla ships in it.
"She will be home next Friday. It's going to be at the church in our town." I looked to Jen who was eating like she wasn't going to eat again. I cleared my throat getting her attention. I glared at her and she sat up straight.
"We would love to attend." The rest of dinner we talked plans about what was going to happen. I told you Emilee you have no idea what I'm capable of.
