Elvis ran a hand over the side of his head, making sure his hair was perfect. If he'd ever been so nervous to perform, it would be in this moment right now. After Lana had gotten Elvis' guitar, he played a few tunes for her parents. Some he wrote and some he only covered. Needless to say both of her parents were impressed and Elvis was paid to play at their party. With little time to rehearse, it made Elvis' stomach grow in knots. All of the fancy friends of Lana's parents were standing around, drinking expensive champagne and chattering in the living room, waiting for Elvis to come out and show them a thing or two about good music. However, he was stuck in the kitchen gathering his thoughts. Stop bein' so nervous, he told himself, get it together. Maybe it was the fact that there were so many people there that made him anxious - it could even be that he wasn't used to being around so many suits just yet. Still, he knew the job had to be done.

Lana rushed into the kitchen; eyes looking around until she seen Elvis. "There you are!" She said with relief as she approached him with a smile.  "Daddy's looking for you. You're still going to sing, aren't you?" Elvis sighed, conflicted, and nodded. "I'm a little nervous, that's all." Lana placed her hands on his shoulders and shook her head. "You have nothing to worry about," She insisted, "Everyone will love you. And if you get stage fright, just look at me." Somehow, her words did in fact calm Elvis down a little. A friend like Lana seemed rare, even so, a woman like her. She was beautiful and kind hearted- at least from what Elvis could see - and he enjoyed everything about her. Especially the way she could ease his anxieties.

Elvis smiled and gave her another nod. "Alright, darlin'. Let's do it." Lana giggled excitedly and wrapped her arm around his before leading him out to her guests in the living room. "Excuse me!" Lana called over the small chatters, "Ladies and gentlemen. Excuse me!" The muttering stopped and all eyes were on Lana and Elvis. Looking around, Elvis felt quite out of place. He was a southern young man and all of these people were city folks. Fancy clothing, big vocabulary. Elvis hardly belonged, he was much too pure and grounded; levelheaded, if you will. All of the guests were dressed in overly expensive clothing, while Elvis wore the one of the suits he wore when he performed at the Venue for work. It obviously wasn't as fancy as what the guests wore but who could really tell? Elvis wore his navy blue suit and white dress shirt just like any other man would. He looked good and could even fool the rich to think he was something special.

"I know my parents and I promised you some entertainment, and now here he is. Everyone, Mr. Elvis Presley." Lana removed her arm from his to clap, causing the other people in the room to clap along with her to greet the singer.

Elvis simply nodded at the small crowed before making his way to the small band Lana's parents had hired just for Elvis to have some backup music. Elvis had only rehearsed with them for two hours before the party. It wasn't much time to prepare but it was all in such a short notice that Elvis just had to be ready. He fixed his guitar over his stomach just before turning around to give the small band a nod, cuing them to start. The first of many songs he would be singing that night was one called Heartbreak Hotel; an original at the venue. The crowed had never heard anything like it. Most of them looked a little confused at first. They weren't sure what to make of the music and the way he shook his hips made the women's mouths fall open as if they were offended. The older women anyway. The younger women had been affected in a different way. They just giggled and blushed, clearly impressed; Lana being the most impressed with Elvis and his wiggling  hips. There was something about the way Lana felt for Elvis. She watched him like she was in a trance. It was at this moment that she told herself she would do anything for him. She just had to have him in her life forever, any way she could. That thought of hers was more than dangerous.

Married women had to turn their heads, afraid they'd offend their husbands with the affection they had for the singer, especially when he began to play more upbeat music. It was obvious that he was going to be something someday; something grand. Anyone could see it. Even the older folks could see that the young generation would fall before Elvis. He just had that flare that the music industry was looking for.
