I finally found Angie. She was sitting on the porch waiting for the pizza guy to come. I sat next to hear holding back my tears from the fight I just had with her brother Damien. She gave me an innocent smile.
"I'm sorry I really thought he wasn't coming home tonight. Are you ok?" She sounded so sad and sympathetic.
"I'm fine, it's just emotions I had buried inside when he left for college." I sound dead and empty. Why can he do that to me with one fight?
We sat there until the pizza guy gave us our pizza. Angie spent the time trying to get my mind off her brother by joking around and watching movies. I was thankful that she tried but it didn't work. We woke the next morning go ready for school and had breakfast. I ignored her brother's presence. He looked like he really wanted to talk to me, but I shut him out, he doesn't get to cheat on me then think everything's fine.
A whole day went by without me realising, I walked home after school alone avoiding everyone. Before I knew it, it was already Friday. A whole week went by.
I was about to walk home from school when Mai looped her arm in mine and walked with me. She looked annoyed.
"Are you ever going to tell me why you've shut me out?" She nearly yelled in my ear angrily. I sighed.
"I've shut everyone out. Don't take it personally." She looked shocked when she heard how lifeless my voice sounded.
"You sound dead. What's going on? I haven't talked to you in months!" She exclaimed.
"It's only been a week or so. It's not like your alone you have Luke." I answered. I felt a pain in my abdomen when I referred to their relationship. I didn't show the pain on my face.
"Ha Luke he's just a guy, he's not you. I need you. I also dumped him." I was surprised then smiled she wouldn't be hurt now right? It's the first time in a week that I've smiled. As I smiled I started to cry and couldn't stop.
Mai quickly texted someone, then grabbed me hugging me tight. We made our way slowly to her house. I lay in silence crying while she sat next to me, trying to figure out what to say.
"I know you've probably tried really hard to not show your emotions this week. But could you tell me why you've at least done that?" She pleaded.
I held back my cry. "H-he came back I wasn't ready." I felt more hot tears fall down my face as I sat up.
Just as she was about to speak Jackson and Luke ran in hyperventilating. They both looked at me with worried and concerned faces. I looked back to Mai.
"Sorry Sil but I had to tell Jackson. I don't know why he brought Luke with him but whatever. Now tell me who came back?" She had no idea who I was talking about.
"I-I can't not while they are here." I stiffed back my tears. Why did they have to be here?
"Jackson is one of your best friends and Luke is my. He's Jackson's friend so he would have found out. So come on just tell me forget about them." Little did she know Jackson was only my friend because of some curse and Luke was going to break her heart.
"Fine." I gave up, I had to tell someone else other than Angie. "It's Damien he came back." Then was silence. Luke had no idea who that was. Jackson looked furious and Mai didn't see the big fuss.
"You mean Angela's brother?" I nodded. "What's the problem with that?"
I sat there gobsmacked how could she not remember he cheated on me.
"They dated don't you remember Mai?" Jackson announced.
"Yeah I don't see the problem. You dated him big whoop and he's back from college now." Did Mai actually forget he cheated on me?
