Hi!

Josh’s POV

“Don’t.” I called out to the Shadow witch. At least, that’s what we thought. She didn’t seem like one of them.

Derek and have been here since eleven at night in the forest past curfew, trying to conjure up anyone who would be coming for us. We geared ourselves up for the worst with any spells and potions you can imagine, but I didn’t expect this witch to have a voodoo doll of Riley. How did she even get some of her blood in the first place? And no one knew she was still alive except for us, right?

“Give her to me.” The witch snarled.

“We don’t know where she is.” Derek told her. “Just drop the doll.”

“Liar.” The witch used the dagger she had in her other hand and slit open the other leg. I winced, knowing that Riley must’ve felt it too if this witch was serious about having Riley’s blood.

Riley’s POV

I sobbed some more as I felt another sharp pain in my other leg. I gripped onto his shirt with my bloody hands until my knuckles turned white. “Adam, make it stop!”

Adam looked down at me in concern, pursing his lips in thought as if trying to make out what exactly was happening. picked me up quickly and carried me back towards the campus. “I’m taking you to the nurse.”

I nodded my head weakly, but had a feeling that the nurse couldn’t help what was happening to me.

Josh’s POV

“Okay!” I growled when the witch raised her hand to make another cut. “I know where she is.”

Josh.” Derek hissed at me.

I ignored him and took a step towards the witch. She flinched back at my actions, gripping tightly onto the voodoo doll in her hands. “I’ll show you where she is. You have to follow me.” I assured her.

“Take me to her.” She demanded.

I rolled my eyes and turned around, walking deeper into the forest which I wasn’t even sure she realized. I glanced at Derek  and gestured towards him to do what we’d planned to do from the beginning.

He pressed his lips together and when the witch wasn’t looking, he threw one of the bottle of potions at her feet. I turned around just in time to see her body ignite in flames and then simply disappeared, the voodoo doll dropping to the ground with the dagger.

I furrowed my brows and glanced at Derek. “That seemed a little too easy.”

“Yeah.” He agreed, walking over to pick up the doll. His eyes roamed over the doll. “I guess she wasn’t kidding. There’s blood all over the woolen shirt. No doubt it’s Riley’s.”

I ran a hand through my hair. “Shit. Hope she’s okay.”

“She should be. But I think we should go check up on her.” He told me sadly and ripped off the bloody shirt from the doll and threw it to the ground. He slipped out a lighter and lit the voodoo doll on fire, throwing it to the ground as well.

“You can, but I’m not. She’s not my priority.”

Derek shook his head. “Whoa. I think you might want to see this knife.”

I walked over to him and crouched down to examine the knife the witch had dropped. It had an odd design on the blade. It looked familiar but I couldn’t put my finger on it. I picked it up, tossing it between my hands. “Pretty heavy blade.” I commented.
