Chapter 9

Riley’s POV

Panting, I made it down the end of the hall before it became a dead end. If it were anyone else, they’d scream to try to get some help, but I couldn’t. I didn’t want anyone involved in this and then get hurt too. If I’m really a witch like Josh said, then I can handle this.

I hope.

I stopped once the walls started to close in on me and turned around. He wasn’t running. He was walking and pretty fast too. I pulled off my necklace and held it up towards the boy. If this help heal me and then what else can it do, right?

But nothing worked. He was getting closer now. I really didn’t know what else I could do.

I stood my ground, the necklace still pointing forward, just as the boy was inches away from me. I could see his face more clearly now. He actually reminded me of someone from one of my classes. He was blonde and had on a white t-shirt and dark jeans. His eyes though was what creeped me out the most. They were black, like completely black. No one’s eyes are supposed to be like that.

“Kill the witch. Kill her.” The boy muttered. I faintly heard a deep voice underneath that. It was like he was mimicking what the voice was saying in a way.

Without even wasting time, he took a swipe at me with the knife in his hand. Clumsily I fell to the ground, dropping the necklace in the process. I started to climb to my feet to run the opposite way until I felt the knife being plunged right into my side. The boy used his free hand to muffle my screams of agony as he pushed the knife in deeper. I could feel tears rolling down my cheeks and tried to push him off, but he was too heavy. His black eyes bored into mine, a sinister smirk playing on his lips.

Then I knew I was going to die.

Adam’s POV

I pinned her hands above her head and continued kissing up her neck.

Liz shivered underneath me and giggled. “Adam, let go. I’m exhausted.”

I shifted a bit so I could look at her, keeping her hands in mine. I tilted my head to the side. “Are you sure you don’t want to go again?”

“I’m sure.” She laughed, struggling against my grip. With a grin, I dropped her wrists. “Finally.”

I chuckled and moved from on top of her, onto the floor. Finding my jeans on the floor, I slipped it on and started to scavenge for my shirt. Liz was still on the bed with the blanket curled around her.

“You’re not going to stay the night?” She asked.

I turned to her to find her pouting. I moved over to her and gave her a light kiss. “I want to, but I don’t want to get caught in the morning sneaking out.”

“That’s true.” She mumbled. “Fine. I guess I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“You will.” I kissed her again and stared lovingly into her chocolate brown eyes. “I love you.”

She ran her fingers through my hair and smiled up at me. “I love you too.”

As I started to get up to continue finding my shirt, I suddenly felt an aching in my side. I groaned in pain and stared down to see that nothing was there even though it was still throbbing.

“Babe, what’s wrong?” Liz asked from beside me.

I really couldn’t even answer that since I didn’t know myself. What exactly was happening? Wait…

“Riley…” I muttered and quickly moved for the door.

“Adam, what happened? What about Riley?” Liz called out to me.
