"Cory!" I exclaimed.
"Cassie!" Cory was my boyfriend. He was a few months older than me. He had short neat black hair, light blue eyes, and was pretty tall (definitely not as tall as Paul though who was now six feet and five inches). We had been dating for almost two years, but had known each other longer because of going to my favorite place in the world where he worked. It was the milkshake place, nothing fancy. I happen to work there too now along with Clara.
"So, you got any plans for this summer yet?" Cory questioned as we walked around the block together, hand in hand. We loved walking around together, especially when it was this nice weather. It was sunny with a cool breeze.
I smiled at him, "I don't think we do yet, unfortunately."
"Bummer," he said.
"What about you?"
"Me?" he questioned pointing to himself, "Well, my parents and I are going to Maine for a while."
I jumped, amazed with this, "Wow! That sounds like fun!"
"Yeah," said Cory with a hint of sadness in his voice, "I'll miss you though."
"Ah, don't worry about that, I'll be okay here at home," I said, "Tell me the details about your trip later."
"Well, the thing is..."
"What?" I questioned quickly.
"I'm leaving in a week," he explained.
"Oh," I said, hiding my sadness very well, "Just...send me a postcard, would you?"
"I will Cass," said Cory. He kissed me and we slowly walked back into my house, it was game night. Game night started two summers ago and happened almost every night during summer. Clara and Paul were both very involved in this (we were all very competitive). Also involved in this was Dan (Clara's boyfriend) they had started dating a few weeks after Cory and I had, Julie, Dan's older sister by a year (Dan was a year older than Clara and I) Leah (one of Clara's and my best friends) and occasionally Paul's friend, Robby would join us with his girlfriend, Mavis. I didn't know them very well.
"Okay guys, who is ready for a game of Apples to Apples?" Julie questioned, her long brown hair bouncing on her shoulders from her excitement. Out of all of us here, I was pretty sure she was the least competitive. She was a good sport when it came to playing games, and seemed very good at winning things apparently.
"ME!" Robby exclaimed loudly making Mavis bury her face in her hands as her long messy black hair fell on her arms. Whenever I saw Mavis, she seemed embarrassed with Robby's reactions to things, but if I was in her place, I think I would be too.
"Robby blew the 'Mavis Fuse' again," Paul joked making Robby choke with laughter. I didn't get it, all I knew was that the brown scruff on Robby's face was making me annoyed. Just kidding, I'm just impatient for the game to start.
Mavis lifted her head, glaring at Paul with a hint of amusement, "Oh he did not, that will happen when I start running around like a duck flapping my arms."
Paul laughed at Mavis's joke, "I would like to see that."
Robby frowned at Paul, "Don't you talk to Mavis like that. She's mine."
Paul's eyes widened, "That's not what I meant Robby!" I rolled my eyes at the three of them, they had the weirdest relationship.
"Alright, who wants to be the Judge first?" Cory questioned as I shuffled the green cards the best I could. Everyone in my family always said that I was the queen at shuffling cards so they always put me to it. Oh well, I liked to anyway.
