"Okay, wish us luck Grandpa," I said hugging him before I left the house. Nana had gone to the laundromat down the street and we had been helping Grandpa mop the floors. We were just about to head down to the auditorium again to get our results on if we got the part, a different part, or if we didn't get a part at all.

Clara and I walked side by side. Today we were wearing the same outfit, jean overalls, and yellow tee shirts with blue flowers on them, along with our flip-flops.

"I hope you get your part," I said to Clara as we walked in, amazed with how cold it was in here compared to outside.

"Same to you," said Clara. I walked in, sitting in the front row again. Clark was there again, and so were Peter, Oscar, Ellen, Abree, Mary Kate, and Leah. I was sitting next to Leah and Clara had already been called just as we walked in.

"Did anyone get cast yet?" I whispered to Leah. Leah nodded, pointing to a taller boy in the row behind us. He looked about sixteen. He had messy black hair, dark eyes, and a pair of jeans on along with a tomato colored tee shirt.

"That's Oric Conex," she answered, "He's going to play Max."

Abree turned her head towards us, "The six nuns were cast too, Brianne, Tula, Peg, Molly, Carly, and Elizabeth. They're all in the ensemble too."

Ellen turned towards us too, "Oh, and Elizabeth is also playing 'Brigitta.'" Just then, I had a worried thought.

"What about Clara?" I wondered, "She was auditioning for a nun." What if she didn't get any part in the play?

"Clara seems talented," Mary Kate retorted, "Maybe she'll get a different part."

"Clark Adams," called Mr. Lane. Clark walked up to the stage with a look of, 'I so nailed this' on his smug face. I laughed to myself. I had seen the look many times on my cousin Demeeta's face whenever she won something.

Clara walked down the stairs with a look of surprise on her face. She sat beside Abree.

"Did you get a part?" we all asked at once.

Clara nodded, smiling, "I got 'Lousia.'" We all praised Clara with that. She was going to be one of the children! As it turned out, Clark did 'nail' the role as the 'Captain,' Abree got the role of 'Marta,' Ellen got the role of 'Gretl' (the youngest child) Peter got the role of 'Fredreich,' (one of the children) and Oscar got the role of 'Kurt' (another one of the children.) Devon (who I hadn't really talked to) got the role of 'Rolf.'

This left Mary Kate and I. We were called together. I walked beside her and we stood there in the room together after closing the door tightly.

"Mary Kate," said Mr. Lane, "You have gotten the role of 'Baronness Schrader.'"

Mary Kate beamed, "Thank you." She was dismissed from the room. I felt disappointed that I didn't get the role, but I was happy for Mary Kate anyway.

Mr. Lane looked confused, "Didn't you already come in here?"

I shook my head, "That must be Clara you're thinking about. So, did I get a role, or am I just in the ensemble?"

Mr. Lane grinned, "Oh you got a role alright. Would you accept the role of 'Maria?'"

My mouth dropped open hard, "Really?" He nodded.

"Um...I don't know what to say...well...yes!" I stuttered.

"Good," said Mr. Lane, "Our first practice will be held tomorrow morning at ten."

"Alright," I agreed, "Thank you Mr. Lane."
