"Hey Demeeta," I said, "Do you want to check out the ice skating rink?"
"Sorry, but I already promised my uncle to mow the lawn," Demeeta answered, "Maybe I'll see you later?"
"Sure, bye," I said.
"Bye." Demeeta closed the door of her uncle's house, and I walked away, heading for the rink with my hockey stick and puck. It was a few days later, and Demeeta, Clara, a few of our other friends and me, had been hanging out a lot lately.
I walked into the ice skating rink, renting some skates and getting to the ice as fast as I could.
I skated quickly on the ice, keeping the puck close to the stick as I flew by. I continued hitting it back and forth as I was suddenly stopped by an unknown figure, stealing the puck from me. I looked up, confused. A tall girl flashed by, wearing a red tee shirt and jean shorts. She had long light brown hair, sparkling green eyes, and I just noticed the 'Bears' logo on her tee shirt. A fan, maybe that's why she stole my puck.
I quickly followed whoever it was, stealing the puck and heading in the other direction as fast as I could without bumping into anyone. She followed me speedily and soon we were both laughing as we passed the puck back in forth. It went on for a while, and I was surprised to say, she was the easiest person to play hockey with on a team.
I wished it could go on longer because nobody ever wanted to play hockey with me this long except maybe Lisa, a friend of Demeeta's; but nope, someone came to stop us.
A tall broad man skated over to us, stopping the puck with his skate.
"You can't play hockey with so many people on the ice," he said, "Sorry." He handed me the puck, and skated away, leaving the two of us.
I turned to the girl, "Too bad, that was the most fun I've had in years."
She looked solemn, "Yeah, me too...say, you're one of the best hockey players I've met."
"You've met more?" I asked excitedly. I was happy with the compliment.
She nodded, "Of course, I'm Winnie Cameron." My mouth dropped open, how could I not have noticed? Winnie Cameron was one of the girls on the 'Bears' team, she wasn't just a fan, she happened to be one of my favorite hockey players ever!
"Wow, I've always wanted to meet you, I'm Cassie Benson," I said still extremely amazed.
Winnie grinned, "Nice to meet you, anyway, I was going to ask you if you wanted to come with me to that ice cream place nearby with some of the other hockey players, you're really good."
I blushed, "Thanks, well...sure."
"Wizard, okay, just follow me," said Winnie excitedly. Did she just say 'Wizard?' Oh well.
It seemed as if it was the first time someone actually could skate at exactly the same speed as me, and it felt great. I took off the skates I had rented, slipping on my flip-flops speedily and following Winnie out the door of the rink.
"So, who exactly are we meeting here?" I questioned as Winnie opened the door and we walked in.
Winnie pondered this, "Roxanne, Chloe, Gia, and Heidi, I think." Again, I was surprised. They were all on the 'Bears' team and I just loved the idea of meeting them all. I mentally sighed happily as Winnie stood close to the doorway with me, waiting for everyone else to show up.
"So, how old are you anyway Cassie?" Winnie asked.
"Oh, I'm eighteen," I replied.
"Cool, I'm nineteen," Winnie added.
