I woke the next morning very early. I didn't know what time it was but it was very dark. Clara was in a very deep sleep and looked like she wouldn't be waking up anytime soon.

I climbed out of bed, slipping on my neon blue flip-flops and tiptoeing out of the bedroom. I heard footsteps coming from the kitchen. As I walked in there, I saw Nana's figure flash by and go through the sliding door onto the deck. I followed her, wondering where she was going.

As I walked outside, I spotted Nana standing by the railing of the deck, peering out at something. I slowly walked over to her and stood there as well. I looked out to the ocean and realized that the sun was just coming up. A bright gleaming yellow light was in the distance in the light blue pinkish sky. It was by far, the most beautiful thing I had ever seen in my whole life as it came up. Too bad I hadn't had the card 'Sunrise' for our Apples to Apples game earlier.

Nana didn't say anything to me as I followed her back inside, so I didn't say anything either. I kind of had the feeling that she wanted to be alone to see this, but I wasn't sure. Oh well, I would never know, but I knew I would be waking up earlier every day here just to see that magnificent sight.

I helped Nana start breakfast by mixing the scrambled eggs up and popping pieces of bread into the toaster. For some reason, we didn't need words to communicate this early in the morning. I was beginning to love it here already. The quietness, the card games, the sunrise, and I hadn't even explored everything here yet.

Grandpa walked into the kitchen a few minutes later and started setting the table, and not long after that, Clara joined us for breakfast.

"Have any plans today?" Grandpa questioned.

Clara and I glanced at each other, "Maybe swimming?"

He nodded, "I'm sure you would like that."

"What are you guys going to do?" Clara asked as we started the process of washing, drying, and putting away the dishes again.

"We'll be going to mass first if you would like to come along, and then I think I'll wash the walls," answered Nana.

"Sure, we'll come," Clara and I replied. After we finished cleaning up from breakfast, we dressed in our church dresses (mine was pink and Clara's was yellow) and accompanied our grandparents to the church.

"Okay Cassie, you promised you would go in the water first," said Clara. We were standing in the moist sand by the water debating if we should go in or not. We had been there for about five minutes. After the mass we had walked home together, our grandparents started washing the walls, and we changed into our bathing suits. I had my pink bikini, and Clara had her yellow one piece. You can probably tell by now how much color coated stuff we have. Pretty much everything except our flip-flops, mine being a neon blue color, and Clara's a neon purple.

"Clara, maybe we shouldn't go in now," I said avoiding the waves, "I mean...it's only like nine in the morning, burr...too cold...HEY...AHH!" I speedily lifted my head above the water, coughing. Clara had pushed me in and it was freezing!

Clara cackled, "You should have seen your face...AHH!" I smirked at my good work done. I had pulled Clara into the water by the arm, almost the same way she got me in the water.

"That was crude and rude," said Clara squeezing out her hair. 'Crude and Rude' was one of Clara's most commonly used phrases.

"Dude, Chill." (That was one of mine). We weren't fighting for much longer. Soon we were racing back and forth as fast as we could (forgetting about how cold it was).

"I'll beat you this time Clara!" I exclaimed as we took our starting positions.

"No way," said Clara, "I've spent much more time doing swimming races with Paul than you." Just as we were about to start swimming, a voice could be heard from behind us.

"Swimming races, huh?" Clara and I quickly turned around. A young man was standing there. He had long messy light brown hair, pale green eyes, and a long face. He was wearing a dark grey tee shirt, a pair of sweat shorts, and some soccer shoes.

I then realized it was that boy Clara and I had seen last night by mistake. A soccer ball was just by his feet.

"I'm Clark, Clark Adams," the boy said. Clara and I glanced at each other.

"I'm Cassie..." I said. "...and I'm Clara," Clara finished.

"Nice to meet you but...I don't remember seeing you two around anywhere before," Clark said confused.

"Oh, you see...we're here visiting our grandparents for the summer," I explained. Clara nodded.

"Having a good time so far?" he asked us, "I've been living here all the nineteen years of my life and I find it pleasant."

"Good for you," I said.

"Yes, we're having a good time so far," said Clara.

"Well...see you around I suppose," said Clark.

"Most likely," we said. "Bye!"

"Yep, take care," said Clark waving. He walked away, kicking his soccer ball lightly.

Clara stared at me, "He seems nice."

"Yeah," I replied, "I have a feeling he saw us last night."

"For sure," said Clara. "I wonder where he lives." We both watched him kicking the soccer ball down the sand.

"Oh," I said spotting the place, "It's just a few yards down, see that yellowy house?"

Clara nodded, "Yeah, I don't know how we didn't see it before. That's so cool." I nodded, now noticing how cold I was.

"Do you want to go back inside?" I questioned.

"Okay." Clara and I grabbed our towels, and walked carefully to the outdoor shower to rinse our feet.

"Clara would you stop making that face?" I asked stubbornly (sometimes Clara made the creepiest faces).

"I'm sorry, I'm just really happy to be here," she answered as we started walking up the stairs to the deck again, "You know, we might make some new friends."

"I suppose so," I said as we walked into the kitchen to find Grandpa and Nana washing the walls.

"Hi girls," said Grandpa turning his head as we walked in.

"Hi," we responded.

"I'll come to help clean after I change back into my clothes," I offered.

"Me too," said Clara.

"Okay, we look forward to it," said Nana. I changed into my jeans and green tank-top, following Clara into the kitchen. She was wearing a pair of purple sweatpants and a black tee shirt.

"Ready for some cleaning?" questioned Grandpa.

"Definitely," we answered. I grabbed a sponge, dipping it in a bucket of soapy water and so did Clara; and the cleaning begun.
