"Bye Grandpa, bye Nana!" Clara and I called from the slider door. My grandparents waved to us, wishing us good luck. We were heading down a few streets for auditions. It was finally the day. Clara and I had thought a lot about who we should audition for. Clara said she was auditioning for one of the six nuns and I was auditioning for 'Baroness Schrader,' one of my favorite characters. But of course, 'Maria' would always be my favorite.
Inside the auditorium were rows and rows of comfy looking red chairs, probably about three hundred I guessed, and a large stage. Clara followed me to the front row where many people were sitting, including Clark. He was at the end of the row.
I sat down beside a girl about my age I guessed. She was very tan, had long curly black hair, and dark brown eyes. She was wearing black converse shoes, a pair of jean shorts, and a black tee shirt with 'Simba' from the 'Lion King' on it.
"Hello," I said as Clara sat down beside me, "I'm Cassie, what's your name?"
The girl turned her head, "I'm Abree."
"Who are you auditioning for?" I asked interested.
"'Marta,' the second to youngest child," she answered, "What about you?"
"'Baroness Schrader,'" I replied.
She grinned, "She's one of my favorite characters. Mary Kate is auditioning for her too."
"Who's Mary Kate?" I asked as a tall girl walked off the stage. She had short wavy blond hair, big blue eyes, freckles, and was probably about a year younger than me. She was wearing a white tee shirt, a grey sweatshirt around her waist, jean shorts, and a pair of blue sneakers. She reminded me of my cousin Demeeta who was probably her age. They had a similar appearance I guess.
"That's Mary Kate, she just auditioned," Abree answered quietly as Mary Kate sat back down beside her.
"Hey Abree, I think it went well, who are these two?" said Mary Kate puzzled.
"I'm Cassie, and this is my sister Clara, sorry I hadn't introduced her earlier," I explained.
Clara turned towards the three of us, "Hi."
"Nice to meet you both," said Mary Kate as Abree nodded in agreement.
I peered down the row and the row behind us, "Do all of you guys know each other?"
Abree shook her head, "I only know Peter, Oscar, Clark, Devon, Peg, and Molly." That left at least six people she didn't know.
"Oh, and Ellen," added Mary Kate waving to someone walking off the stage. It was Ellen! She was so fun to talk to, and I was very surprised to see her here, being so shy, well, I guess just not as talkative as Clark.
"Ellen!" Abree whispered pointing to a seat beside Mary Kate.
Clark turned towards Abree frowning, "Um...ahem, auditions...be quiet."
Abree rolled her eyes, "Oh, like you're not talking to Pete and Oscar." Peter and Oscar looked a lot like Mary Kate actually. She told us later that they were triplets which I thought was fascinating.
Abree sighed, "Clark and I have never really gotten along."
"Too bad," said Clara who didn't seem sorry at all, "Hey, who's up next?"
As soon as the words left Clara's mouth we heard someway say, "Cassandra Elaine Benson."
I stood up, frowning at Clara, "When I told you to write my name down, I didn't tell you to write my whole name."
