A strange feeling of pity washed over Sakura. Pity for Sasuke.
Only now did she realize how she took Naruto and his Narutoness for granted. As Orochimaru, Sasuke, the eye-patch dude, and she leaped from tree to tree in total silence she realized how quiet things must be for Sasuke. Sakura hadn't been on one mission without having Naruto complain about the traveling conditions and chattering about random things. But here the four of them hardly exchanged one word to each other.
Of course she wouldn't want to talk to the two creepy guys and talking to Sasuke was kinda awkward but she was about to die from boredom! She almost missed knocking Naruto on the head for suggesting something idiotic or ridiculous!
Did Sasuke also miss that? Did he actually enjoy these painfully awkward silences that stretched along for uneventful hours? He always seemed annoyed with Naruto's childish shenanigans but they must have been more entertaining that this! Sasuke always did like complete silence but this was too much! How much did he possibly have to think of during the quiet?!? This was Sakura's first mission - well, not mission but she didn't know what to call it - without having any conversation.
The eye-patched man - who Sakura heard Orochimaru call Tasuo before they left - kept smirking at something he was thinking. Sakura did NOT want to know what was going down in that sick mind of his.
