The world was black and white.
Colourless smells, colourless touches, colourless sights and colourless sounds. The world was full of dull memories of the past, full of grim faces, full of weathered thorns.
The girl was not.
She was vivid and radiant and brilliant and glowing and bold. She was the smell of freshly baked pastries, filling your nostrils. She was the feeling of the sun, hitting your back. She was the thrill of jumping on a trampoline, and landing seconds later. She was the warmth of your blankets surrounding you, when it's raining outside. She was happiness, she was a growing blossom in the world of weathered thorns.
I guess you could compare this to energy. She was full of it; she was positive. The rest of the world wasn't the same; they were negative.
You see, maybe in that unconscious world, a girl like her did not belong. She smiled too often, her dazzling smile flashing like a beacon in the sea of melancholy. She was too bright, she did not fit in with the tones of grey. Maybe, she had to leave. She had to escape the harsh reality of the world. She couldn't stay in a dreary place.
And alas, she thought she had to hide. Every morning, she put on a mask. Every day, she hid her true self. She thought she had to fit in. She thought she was the only different one. She thought she couldn't be herself, since she was an outcast.
So that's how she spent her life. Pretending to be someone else. Trying to hide her positive self, trying to be negative. She spent her whole life looking for someone like her. She spent her whole life searching for another positive person, within a world of negativity. One day, she crossed paths with somebody. She couldn't have guessed that she was like him,
because,
he wore a mask as well.
