It was 7:30PM and you were finishing up with straightening your hair. Josh is suppose to pick you up at 8, so you had some time to kill. Honestly, you were extremely nervous. You didn't know what to expect. Was this going to be a huge fancy dinner date or would you be going to an arcade? What exactly was going to go down tonight? You had no idea. Was this even a date? All he said was that he was picking you up at 8. Josh was a really unpredictable guy, but you just decided to go with it.Your mom knocked on your bedroom door and you said, "Come in!" Your mother walked in and she gasped when she saw you, "Oh sweetheart, you look so pretty. What's the occasion?" You turned off your straightener and sat on your bed, "Um, a boy named Josh, is picking me up at 8. He's taking me out on a date I think." Your mom sat down next to you, "You think? Is it a date or not? How come I've never heard of this boy?" "We've been good friends for a while. I never mentioned him just cause, well I didn't think it was that important. I don't know. Anyway, we're pretty close and he's taking me out tonight. I'm not sure if it's necessarily a date, but it doesn't matter." Another lie. What was with you? You've told two lies in one day. One to Mr. Hughes about why you were late to class, and one to your mom about your relationship with Josh. Man, you were on a roll. Your mother looked at you suspiciously and stood up, "Okay then. Well, I've got to go run some errands. I hope everything goes well. Please be safe and make smart decisions." She kissed you on the forehead and left.
It was exactly 8:00 when you heard a knock on the front door. You took a deep breath, adjusted your hair so that it looked perfect, and then opened the door. Josh was standing there, wearing a black v-neck, a leather jacket, and black skinny jeans. You asked him, "The bad boy is perfectly on time? How weird." He laughed a little, "Yeah, well I wanted to make a good first impression." "I thought you didn't care what other people think", you responded with some sass. You were new at trying to be flirtacious, so you were a little awkward. Josh nodded, "That's true. But I care what you think." That made your heart flutter. You smiled as he took your hand, "Shall we?" You nodded and you closed the front door behind you, walking into the driveway. There was his motorcycle parked. You were extremely anxious, you've only driven a car. As if it wasn't obvious enough, you asked, "Um, are we going to be riding on that... thing?" He laughed, "Yup. Don't worry though. I'm a really good driver, I've been driving motorcycles for 3 years. Trust me." You sighed deeply, "Alright. But before we leave, where are we even going?" Josh responded, "Oh. Yeah. Well, I was hoping we could go see a movie together. Would you want to do that? It's totally okay if you don't." "That sounds perfect. I'd love to do that", you responded with pure joy. Okay, it definitely sounds like a date.
Josh mounted his black shiny motorcycle, "Well what are you waiting for?" You had been standing there for about 5 minutes, just staring at the thing. You really didn't like the idea of motorcycles. He laughed, "Uhh... hellooo? Earth to Y/N? You okay there?" You were snapped back to reality, "Um, yeah, sorry. I'm just really scared." Josh sighed, "It'll be fineee. We'll be at the movie theater in no time. Promise." You trusted him, so you carefully go onto the back of the motorcycle and wrapped your arms around his torso. He started the motorcycle and began to drive down the dark streets. You held on to him for dear life as the wind blew past you, messing up your straightened hair. When the two of you were at a stop sign Josh asked, "How you doin back there?" You responded in a loud voice, "Uh, I'm doing okay. It's not as scary as I thought it would be." Josh chuckled, "See? It's not that bad. You've got no reason to be worried. We're almost there, it's just down this street." You nodded and rested your chin on his shoulder.
You and Josh walked into the movie theater, hand in hand. It was 8:20 now. The two of you sat on the top row, the theater room was completely empty. It was perfect. Just the two of you. The movie previews were showing and you asked him, "What movie are we watching?" Josh looked at you, "Insidious. I've seen it before, it's a really scary one. You'll love it." You smiled, leaning your head on his shoulder. The movie started.
