Chapter 5

Abby's P.O.V

Turns out it was actually 12:30 and I missed breakfast. Mum was now making lunch and as Derek said KFC for dinner.

I was sitting at the kitchen Island patiently waiting for food

"Here we go guys. It's not a lot but it's all we have right now" She turned around from the counter with a plate of hot chips and an apple pie.

"Mum, this is still great" I said bringing a smile to her face

"There's ice-cream in the freezer" she said and I jumped up to retrieve it

A little while later I noticed Derek had disappeared again so I sat down on the couch and started looking for movies.

Thats when it hit me.

I sprinted up the first flight of stairs then realised I am not fit. So I walked to the spiral stairs and walked towards the movie room.

I plugged the iPad into the film machine and started watching American Horror Story.

After a couple of episodes alone. In a big dark room. I decided that something else to watch was probably better considering that it was freaking me out. So I put on Mean Girls. I know it's old now but I didn't care.

"Abby" I heard chloe call out

"In here" I yelled then realised after yelling out to her about 20 times this room is probably soundproof. I got up and unlocked the door and called her in

"What are you watching" She peered in curiously

"Mean girls 1 and next Mean girls 2" I wiggled my eyebrows

"MUM!" I called out

"YES!" I heard a faint voice

"WANNA WATCH A MOVIE WITH US!" I yelled out

I heard feet shuffling and a couple of seconds later she appeared at the top of the spiral staircase with closed fists shaking them near her chest.

"Of course, I don't wanna miss out on spending girl time, Just don't tell your brother" She giggled like a little girl who was up past her bed time.

We had been through the first movie and we were talking about it as I looked for number 2

"That is so fetch!" My mum said

"Gretchen! Stop trying to make fetch happen. it's not going to happen" My sister said

"Boo you whore" My mum said and we all laughed

"I found the 2nd one!" I called out

"Play it!!" My mum said excitedly

"Yeah don't just stand there" Chloe said

I pushed play and about halfway through the movie there was a knock at the movie door.

"Wait its soundproof maybe he doesn't know where in here" I said

He then opened the gym door

"Oh my God, Where are they" He said

I opened the door slowly and it was dark. I hid behind the door and he walked up to it.

"Abby, Chloe. This isn't funny" He said and walked forward and I popped out from behind the door and he screamed like a girl.

"What are you guys doing" He said pretending as if I didn't scare him

"Don't pretend like I didn't just scare the living daylights out of you" I said

He rolled his eyes and walked in anyway. I closed the door behind him and locked it.

"I couldn't hear anything from outside" He said

"I know its soundproof" My mum said

"Mum? Your in here too" He said confused

"Well yeah" She said in a are you stupid tone

"I never thought there would be a day when my own mother didn't care to stop me from feeling so lost" He pretended to be sad putting a hand over his heart and putting his head down

"Yeah. You are only putting your hand over your heart because I scared you" I stuck my tongue out at him and walked back up the stairs to the last lounge where my mum and sister were sitting.

He sat one in front of us and I played the movie.

"Oh cool Mean girls 2" He said

"How do you know this movie" Chloe said

"I don't" He said rolling his eyes

"He always watched mean girls with me" I said

"Yeah" He shook his head

"Don't act like you didn't like the movies" I said shoving his shoulder a little and he put his hands up in defence

"Okay, you got me. I like watching them cause it reminds me of when you were younger and when you relied on me" He said grabbing my hand that I had shoved his shoulder with.

"Ohh Shhh" My mum said

"Trying to watch here" Chloe snapped clicking her fingers. We all just laughed at her and she cracked a small smile.

After the movie had finished I asked if we all wanted to watch a scary movie. Because I love them.

I. Love. Scary. Movies.

I just hate watching them by myself.

"Have you guys seen the Conjuring?" I asked

"Nope" Derek said

"Nup" Chloe said and mum, well she just shook her head.

"The conjuring it is then" I smiled evilly

I haven't seen it but I have seen the trailer. It is quite the horror.

Throughout the movie I was watching everyones faces go from scared to horrific to what the hell is happening.

Trust me. I was just as sacred but it was an amused scared. I found it hilarious.

The movie had finished and by then we were all shaking. The mother in the movie looked sick with or without the demon.

"What time is it?" Chloe asked and Derek pulled out his phone

"5:28pm" Derek said

"It had to be to the exact number didn't it" My mum said

"Yes it did, otherwise Chloe here would have complained about how I read the time" He pouted

I grabbed my phone from the little movie room next to our lounge and closed the movie room door.

"Dinner" I asked looking at my mum hopefully

she sighed.

"Everyone to the car" She said

"Can I drive" Derek called

"Shotgun" My mum yelled.

"Fine" I mumbled, I looked over at chloe and she just shrugged

"Off to KFC" She said excitedly as we got out the front door making sure we locked it.

Our driveway was like the longest thing ever. Thank god that Derek and I can drive so we don't have to walk

Our Driveway is about a 3 minute drive and what seems to be like a 10 minute walk through the forest.

It has 3 houses along the end of the driveway.

Our neighbours that I have met, Then us, Then I don't know the other neighbours.
