Geological events or crisis has negative effects on the nations
Eg. America during the dust bowl would cough up a lot of dust, and have something similar to black lung.
Eg. 2 Or if a big meteor were to strike a particular country, they would have a heavy migraine.
Eg. 3 if a volcano were to explode, they would look burnt (but no scars appear)
Eg. 4 If a drought happened, the country would have a dry throat (no dehydration, although dry skin may happen)
