Chapter 2: Rylie

"No." I stated, jumping up from my spot. Jon watched me as I sped back to Chelsea,"I'm leaving." I told her.

"What? why?" Chelsea exclaimed.

"I'll tell you later." I said, and head to the gate, I took another look to Jon, who looks like he just came out of a trance and stood up,"Wait, Mia." He tried, but I left.

I walked, quickly, to my car.

"Mia! Slow down! Lets talk." I heard from behind me.

I ignored it, as I got in my car. I slammed the door, and turned it on. I watched Jon jog to my car. He stopped beside my window, and began talking, but I couldn't hear him, so I rolled down my window.

"What?" I asked, coldly.

"Can't we talk, Mia? Please?" He begged.

"Why would I want to?" I asked, rolling my eyes, even though I really wanted to.

"To catch up." Jon tried.

I shook my head, and rolled up my window, and started backing up my car, making him take a few steps back, and he slumped his shoulders, and made his way back to the pool party.

I drove home, memories of us forming and replaying in my brain. I thought back to our first kiss.

We were at the park, and we were both in 10th grade, when we first started dating, and we had decided to play on the kid play ground. We could barely fit on anything, but we had fun. We got to the top of the 'castle', as the kids would call it, and we laughed, staring off into the night.

It was dark and the only light was the moon, stars, and light poles around. Jon took my hand, and I looked to him. He smiled, before slowly leaning in, giving me the most sweetest kiss.

I hadn't noticed, that my eyes began tearing up thinking about it. I sighed, and told myself not to cry, as I went inside my house. I went to my room, and to my closet. I opened the door that hasn't been opened in ages, and looked at my door. I had taped up pictures of Jon and I together, and some with our friends. And some, just of Jon doing random things. My favorite was the one in the middle, where I cut out a picture of Jon and I kissing at the beach, where we went on vacation with our friends for a week.

I slowly closed my closet door, and sat down on my bed. I started thinking deeply about what just happened. I had found the love of my life at a pool party. And he looked so different, I hadn't even recognized him.

My phone rang, and I slowly got it out of my pocket, answering it solemnly,"Hello?"

"Hey, girl," Chelsea's voice came through,"What happened?" she question.

"Nothing, I just need some time. I'll call you back later." I told her.

"Okay. If you say so. You ran out of here followed by the Dude and then he came back sadly, so you better tell me what happened tomorrow." She demands.

"I will. Gotta go, bye." I hung up, and made my way to the bathroom. I took a shower, and tried to forget all that happened.

I had not ran into my missing love at a party.

I repeated to myself over and over again until I believed it. But it didn't work. After my shower, it was around eight, so I just got in my pajamas and lied down, and watched some TV.

The next morning, I had work. I worked at a quick shop called Terry's, and it's not very popular, but it pays alright. So I got up and dressed and everything, and started on my way.

The day went on, boring as usual, and I was twenty minutes away from leaving this prison, and going home to my nice warm bed. I was talking to my co-worker, Gavin, who I'm like best friends with, when someone familiar walked in.

"Oh no," I sighed, trying to hide my face.

"What's the matter?" Gavin asked, eying the guy who walked in.

"I just don't want to talk to him right now." I shook my head, and walked behind a rack of stuff. He came my way, and I walked off, pretending as if I hadn't seen him.

I jumped when he jumped out from the way I was going.

"Hey you." Jon smiles.

"What?" I dragged out the 'a' and began walking back to the cash register.

"Just came to say hi," he paused and grabbed a candy bar from the rack,"And to get some candy." He shrugged.

I chuckled, missing this personality, and stopped in my tracks, turning around and just taking him in a hug. He gladly hugged me back, and I smiled.

"Jon?" A female voice asks. He brakes the embrace, and looks behind him and I see a stunning woman,"What are you doing?" She asked, jealously.

"I told you to wait in the car." Jon told the brunette.

"But I wanted some chips." She states,"And I come in here to see you hugging some girl." She threw glares towards me.

"Please, Rylie, not here, not now." Jon begged, and I turned around, and left to the counter.

"We're talking bout this at your house, then." Rylie tells him, grabbing a bag of Cheetos and coming to me.

I rang it up and told her the price. She rolled her eyes as she gave me the money and left, but stopped and turned around, giving Jon a flirty wave,"I'll be in the car, babe." And gave me a final glare before exiting the store.

Jon rubbed his neck awkwardly, and I looked at him, eyebrow raised.

"That was Rylie." Jon shrugged, and acting like he was searching for something on the rack.

"Who's Rylie?" I asked.

He mumbled something, and fake coughed, and said,"Oh, are these new? I should get them." And he chuckled nervously.

"Jonathon." I scolded,"First you didn't answer my question, and two, those are Pringles. They've always been here." I stated.

He turned red, putting the can back, and coming to me,"That was Rylie. My girlfriend."

Ouch, that stung.

"G - Girlfriend?" I stuttered.

"Yeah." Jon nodded, awkwardly. My mouth hung slightly open, but I brought myself back to reality, took his candy bar, and rang it up.

I told him the price, coldly, and he was shocked by my voice tone. He took out his wallet and handed me the money. I gave him change, not making eye contact.

"Have a good day, sir." I began walking away.

"Mia," Jon said,"Come here." He begged.

"Why?" I asked.

"Can we just talk?" He pleads.

"No, Jon," I turned around,"I'm at work, if you couldn't tell." I crossed my arms, stubbornly.

"How about tonight? Over dinner?" He asked, Slowly.

I thought for a moment,"Okay. I guess."

He smiled,"Great, pick you up at six." Jon get his candy and leaves.

I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding, and got a broom and began to clean up some, thinking about what could happen tonight.

It was ten past six, and Jon was not here, yet. I was about to give up, and just leave it at him bailing on me. I sat on the couch and looked at my outfit, I wore a nice zebra shirt and some cute jeans. Not to fancy. But not to lazy. I was about to get up and go to my room, giving up, but a knock got me to jump out of my seat and walk smoothly to the door, and opened it, facing Jon Cozart.
