"Well," Jon started,"We won skeeball.".
"Fascinating." Chelsea said, uninterested.
"Chels, do you even know what Skeeball IS?" I asked.
"Of course not. Now, let's go, these bags are getting a little heavy." She complains.
We start walking to the exit, and Jon looks at me,"Would you like to come over for dinner?" he asked.
"I would love to." I smiled.
"Great." he comments, as we walk out of the mall.
"I'm going home now. Bye." Chelsea said, walking to her car, not even glancing up from her phone.
"Someday that girl is gonna get ran over." Jon chuckles, shaking his head.
"I know it. So, Ill be at your house a little after you. I'm going to make a phone call, its my mom's birthday, and she will flip if I don't call her soon." I tell him, and he nods.
"See you soon, then." he pulled me into a quick hug, before we walked our separate ways.
I went to my car, and got in, taking out my phone. I called my mom, and wished her a happy birthday. Our conversation lasted about five minutes before I finally said good-bye, and began driving to Jon's house.
~~~~~~~~~
I pulled into his dive way, and he was leaning up against his car, talking on the phone.
I got out, and Jon looked to me, sending me a small smile. I went to him, and he seemed to be having an important conversation, but the other person is the only one talking, "Uh huh." he repeated over and over.
I wrapped my arm around his waist, and tried not to eavesdrop, as I looked to his neighbor's house. I saw a woman and a man our age walk in, perfectly happy, and holding a new born. My mind started to daydream about how that could've been Jon and I, and our newborn baby. We had always talked about having a kid, and what our house together would look like, and where we'd live.
And then, I remembered to our fight, and what we fought about.
I had been out of town for a month, going on a small vacation with Chelsea and my friend Josh. We had gone on a cruise, just to relax. The night I got back, I wanted to surprise him at his house. But, when I got there, he wasn't there. I had decided to hide, and wait for him to come.
I had done what I wanted, and I waited and waited. A few hours of just sitting there, the door finally opened, revealing Jon. And a girl. He walked in, holding her hand, and they both were laughing and having a great time. My old self instantly went to think that he was cheating. Of course, he had never cheated before, so I was beyond hurt and mad.
I had stood from my spot, as Jon turned on the lights, seeing me. His eyes lit up,"Mia!" He had said.
"Jon." I said, sternly.
He had then realized the woman next to him, and he stuttered that she should go, and she nodded, leaving. Jon had smiled to me, but I started yelling at him, and he tried defending himself, resulting into a long night of yelling. The night ended with me throwing my ring at him, and he took it, and rushed Out the door, slamming it, unseen by me until that day at Walmart.
"Jon." my voice cracked, coming back to reality.
"Yes?" he looked down to me, already finished with his phone conversation.
"I've missed you, so much." Tears began rolling, and I hid my face in his chest, hiding my hysterical crying.
"Baby, Mia, are you okay?" he held my head.
I tightened my arms around him, bringing him as close as possible, holding tightly to his shirt, crying my eyes out.
"Lets get you inside." he picked me up, bridal style, and walked me inside to his house. He closed the door, and sat down on the couch, with me on his lap, and I continued crying into his chest,"Im so sorry." I cried to him.
"For what, lovely?" he asked, kissing my head.
"Blaming you." I tried to stop crying, my breathing heavy, and my voice shaking.
I started coughing from my crying, and Jon rubbed my back,"Blaming me for what?" he asked, obviously clueless.
"For cheating." I said, on the verge of tears, again.
Jon lifted my face to his, and stared into my red eyes, "Honey." he said, sincerely,"Oh, Mia, Don't cry over this. That's the past. We're here now, together, the past is forgotten." He said, wiping my wet cheeks.
"But- But," I stutter, my breathing uneven, "If I hadn't blamed you, we'd be married, and possibly have a kid or two." I said, looking into his eyes.
"Baby, what happened must have happened for a reason. Maybe we weren't meant to get married that young. Don't blame yourself, you didn't know that Gabby was just my friend, you didn't know that we'd break up, and you didn't know that we'd make up five years later." he smiled slightly to me.
"I still love you, Jon. I've always loved you." I admit, smiling, tears slowly escaping, but this time, for happiness.
"And me to you, darling cakes." he stares into my eyes, resting his forehead to mine,"Forget everything happened."
"I can't, though." I sigh, staring right back, "That was the most miserable year of my life, Jon.".
"And for me, too." He admits,"But, I got past it, seeing you here, with me now, in the present time." He says, sweetly,"You have to forget, honey." his eyes bore into mine, begging.
"Okay, I'll try." I say, and his smile returns,"Close your eyes." he directs.
I do as told, and I let the quietness overtake me, and Jon holds me tightly, pressing his lips to mine softly,"Now," he pulls away, "Try to realize that you're in my house, on my lap, five years after the incident." he speaks, softly.
"Okay." I said, bringing my mind to reality.
"And forget anything ever happened." He tells me.
"Done." I said, after a while.
"Wonderful." He says, before kissing me again, more passionately this time.
I pulled away, and looked into his eyes,"I can't lose you again.".
He takes my hands in his,"You won't." He goes in for another sweet kiss.
Someone knocks, interrupting our little moment. We pull away, and Jon looks to me,"You okay, now?".
"Yes." I say, smiling, and returns the smile, and I sat on the couch, as he gets up, fixing his shirt, and goes to the door. He opens it, and I wipe my eyes. I get up, and go to the bathroom to wash my dry tears off my face. I dry my face, and go back to the living room, and see Jon talking to someone. I go to him, and look to see who it was,"Oh." I recognize her,"Rylie. Good to see you again." I said, trying to act nice. I look to Jon, and he looks at me, before inviting Rylie in.
