Miguel and I arrive at his small home just a few minutes away from where we all were hanging out a few minutes ago. Miguel steps ahead of me and pushes his door open, and holds it open for me to walk through. What a gentlemen, I silently thought to myself.
It wasn't much inside. A small bed made out of straw, and a thin blanket over that, and what looked to be a folded up shirt as a pillow. There was a tiny square window towards the back of the room, with light grey curtains. I walked over near the window and look around the room more closely. In the corner of the room there's a small nightstand with a picture frame on top. I walk over to the nightstand and look at the picture; a young blonde haired boy who looked about five, two adults who -must be a mom and a dad- and an older girl who looked about my age. She also had dark blonde hair, but hers fell just below her shoulders.
"That's me and my family. The girl is my sister named Stephanie; she past away just two years ago from a major gun shot wound in her stomach. She jumped in front of the bullet for me; if she hadn't done that, I wouldn't be alive right now. Here, with you." Miguel stands behind me then, resting his hand on my right shoulder. I turn around to look at him and give him a faint smile. "I'm sorry Miguel. I bet she was an amazing sister." Miguel looks down at his feet and walks over near his bed and sets my stuff down. "Yes. She was the best sibling anyone could ask for." I felt the tears coming to my eyes; thinking about him and his sister being alone for so long breaks me heart.
"After my mom and dad passed away by a train accident, it was just me and my sister. She took care of me, and was basically like a mom, best friend, and sister all rolled into one. She was much older than me. I don't even remember how old she would be now. It's been to long." Miguel rubs his left eye and looks away from me towards the door. I walk up behind him and hug him from behind, wrapping my arms around his waist. "It's going to be okay. You have us now."
I rest my head on his back, my arms still wrapped around him. Miguel turns around quickly and speaks up. "When I saw you earlier today, I thought that you were the most beautiful girl I'd ever seen in my life time. Then when you spoke to me, it was like hearing an Angels voice for the first time. You instantly made me smile, and I could tell you weren't from here."
He's looking into my eyes then, his arms around my waist, pulling me close. "I know I've only met you today, but I can tell your so unique. Your very different than all of the other girls here and I want to get to know you more." I could feel the corners of my lips loosen up and form into a small smile when he said that. His right hand rises up and cups my right cheek, and his face is inches away from mine. My eyes close as I wait to feel his lips against my own. Miguel leans in closer, and suddenly the front door opens, and Damon is standing in the doorway.
"Damon! Please stop!" Damon runs out of the shack, and drops a small bracelet on his way out. I begin to run after him, and stop when I almost step on the bracelet. I pick it up and stare closely at it; it was small, and had light green skulls with tiny black roses in between each skull. I groan as I put it on, and chase after him. "Damon! Please come back!" I shout his name loudly, scanning the area for him.
Miguel is close behind me, calling out his name to. "Fuck, I'm so sorry. That was stupid of me. He told me you guys were in a romantic interest right now and told me to back off. I should've listened, god damn it." Miguel is running his fingers through his hair, and starts blabbering many words in Spanish. I run from the shack in hopes to find Damon and explain to him what had happened.
I'm about to give up and turn back when I hear soft sobs coming from a nearby group of trees. I walk slowly and quietly towards the trees and call out Damon's name softly. "Damon? Are you over here?" It becomes quiet now, and all I can here is the leaves rustling on tree branches above, and my steady breathing. "Please go away Brooke." Comes a soft, deep voice. I continue walking toward Damon, and I see him fully now. He's sitting criss crossed on the ground, hunched over with his elbows on his knees, with tears streaming down his cheeks and onto the ground.
I sit down in front of him and reach my hand out to move his hair out of his eyes. "Damon, it's not what it seemed like. He was leaning into me and -" I get cut off by Damon's angry tone of voice, "Oh really huh? So you weren't about to kiss Miguel? I walk in and see you guys almost kissing, noses practically touching. That's not kissing?" His voice gets louder and louder every few words. "Maybe if you would just care about my feelings for once" he quietly says. My mouth drops open and Damon puts his head in his hands.
"Oh really? I don't care for you? Who was the one who helped you onto that moving train so you wouldn't get caught by a train guard? WHO was the one who fixed up your gun shot wound so you wouldn't bleed out and die? WHO was the one that fucking brought you here and kept your ass moving and not give up?" I'm standing up at this point, moving around as I scream at him. "Oh yeah, ME!" I finish off.
Damon stands up then, putting one hand on his hip and running the other hand through his hair. "Your right. I'm sorry. It's just I really like you, and seeing you almost kiss Miguel just... I don't know, but it made me mad." He turns around, crossing his arms in front of his chest. I take a deep breath and sigh, walking over to him. I hesitate then wrap my arms around his waist and giving a slow kiss to the right side of his neck.
I could feel him taking a deep breath as he quickly turns around gripping both sides of my arms, and pulling me into him. My eyes close as I let his soft lips press into mine as his hair brushes against my skin. I wrap both of my arms around his neck, kissing him even harder than before. Damon pulls away from the kiss almost as immediately as it had started. "What's wrong?" I whisper into his ear. "Your to beautiful." I giggle at the comment and pull him in for another kiss.
"Eh hem.." My eyes open and I look past Damon to see Miguel standing there. Shit. I forgot he was looking for Damon to. "You never told me you found him." Miguel had said quietly. Damon releases his grasp on me, and we both walk over to Miguel who had his arms crossed over his chest and his eyes to the direction of the ground. Damon speaks up then, "sorry Miguel. For everything, I didn't mean it when I threatened to slit your throat if you flirted with Brooke. I was just nervous she would choose you over me, and I really like her." My mouth drops open and I turn to Damon who was facing Miguel. "You threatened him?! When the fuck did that happen?" I yell to Damon. Damon was going to answer until Miguel puts a hand in front of his face. "Let's all forget about what happened, and go back to the shack. We all are very tired and we need to rest for tomorrow." Miguel said. Me and Damon nod our head in agreement and we all start walking back to the shack.
