The huge doors slowly opened with a loud creak, and our eyes widen at the sight of what was held inside.

"Welcome to the between my children." A delicate voice sounded while a giant hand motioned us in.
Odin was breathing hard from the running and sweat covered his skin like a second layer of skin. He took one look at us before entering. "Let's go." He mumbled.
Lilly took a second to regain herself, shook her head, then strutted after him.
"Lilly!" I yelled and she looked behind me with a confused expression. "You can't just walk into a place you don't know of! It's forbidden!"
She gave a sad look and nodded before walking to me to take hold of my smaller hands. She rubbed the top of them tenderly in a motherly fashion, "We have to go now Minnian."
"Lilly..." I breathed while I locked my brown eyes on her green ones that shined with sadness.
"We have to go, there is no where else that is safe from these monsters."
"But... our parents." I choked out.
"They'll be fine, all the other merchants have been opening port holes all around the land." Odin answered taking out a compass like device. "Look here, this is us." He pointed to a green dot that flashed on the face of the device, and then moved to other green dots that suddenly started to appear. "These are the other portals, your parents should have at least got in one of them."

I took a gulp and looked at the two, they wanted to go. They wanted to leave our safe haven. After all these years of feeling safe and protected, am I really ready to abandon it all?
Kentori didn't hesitate to walk in with a stoic expression, her robes flowing elegantly on the ground before disappearing through the doorway.
*Boom!*
We all jumped in our skins, and our eyes slowly drifted behind us. A black smoke cloud raised from the trees, fires coated the stick made houses and the gardens that took years to grow, died with one single flame. The sky started to darken with the smog and the smell of blood was becoming more evident. The trees started to soak up the blood that was spilled on the grass and they started to be tainted with a hellish black. Our world, was dying.

"Bloody hell." Odin breathed while witnessing the destruction of our village. I felt my throat constrict and my blood run cold at a blood curdling scream that tore through the skies. We all took a gasp of air as we watched a shifter run from the forest miles away from us.

His body was slashed with cuts and battered with bruises, the blood was too much for him to survive the attack. He trudged through the muddy fields while gasping for breathe. He held his deformed arm as it was bent at an unsettling angle.
This man was slowly and painfully dying, but he still fought the death that welcomed him. He slowly and shakily raised his arm outward to us as the scarlet liquid dripped from his black finger tips. "Help....me....please..." he moaned while his face contorted.

Lilly held a small out to him like if the miles apart between them wouldn't keep her from grabbing hold of the suffering man. She took a small step forward but then Odin harshly grabbed the girl's upper arm to stop her. She looked up at the man with confusing and sadness mixed across her delicate features.

He just glared at the man and didn't move his eyes off him. She returned her gaze back to the man and I saw her eyes widen with fear. I raised an eyebrow at her before returning my gaze back to the man, just in time to witness him get stabbed through the stomach.

My heart stopped and my breathing hitched as we witnessed the man's back arch in an unusual way while a black long sword was sticking out of his body, his face and hands twitched as blood seeped through his black robes and dripped off the blades edge.

The man's face showed pain, agony, and sadness as his red liquid rolled down his chin from his mouth. Lilly screamed as his body went limp and was flung off the sword. His once pained eyes were soul less and his blood seeped into the ground making the once pure grass tainted. My mouth hung open at the scene and only little whimpers were produced from the other girls who clutched onto Odin who gladly held them with protective arms.
