Chapter 9

"I have training with Jason and the warriors tomorrow. You are more than welcome to come. Sloan will be there," Jake informs me. Eventually, I will have to get comfortable with the pack. So starting with the warriors should be all right. "I don't want to look weak," I express concern. "If anything, all the warriors, including Jason and I, will end up helping you," Jake chuckles, making me smile. I nod, and we both stand up and head upstairs. He stops at my door to say goodnight, kisses my head, and walks to his room. I stand in the hallway and watch him go in but not shut his door.

I slowly tiptoed to his door to see him standing before it, smiling. "You are too cute, little one," I squeak and run back to my room, causing him to follow me. I jump on my bed when Jake asks, "Are you okay?" I hum in response. He squints his eyes and turns to walk out, but I let out a whimper. I bring my hands up to cover my mouth, and it stops Jake dead in his tracks. "Would you like for me to stay?" he says, only turning his head, but I see the fear of rejection in his eyes. My mouth opens like a fish as I try to find the words. I feel the mate bond more now. My wolf never died; she just hid. I can feel her resurfacing every time Jake touches me or makes me smile with genuine happiness, "Please." To this, Jake shuts my door, switches off the light, and turns on the lamp, brightening the room so I can see him.

Jake reaches behind him, grabs the collar of his shirt, and pulls it off in one swift motion. My eyes follow the move. I have seen him shirtless before, but not like this; his hair is a mess—sleepy eyes and in low, dim lights. I follow every muscle on his body with my eyes. My mouth is slightly open, so you can hear me sigh. I push myself off the bed and let my body take me over to him. Jake stands still as I make my way. Getting closer in front of him- I don't know what took over me, but I placed my hands on his waist and traveled up. I watch as goosebumps form on his skin under my touch. I let my eyes follow my hands. Jake's hands find their way to my waist, pulling me closer, making me go up on tiptoes, pushing my hands to his shoulders. I finally look up at him, but he is already looking down at me. He stands about a foot taller than me. He slips his warm hands under my shirt, feeling my skin. I didn't pull out of his touch. Our breathing matches each other. Jake leans closer to me. My hands fall further over his shoulders as he kisses my lips. So soft and not rushed. It was light. We stayed in the positions until I broke it, needing air. I step down back to flat feet, catching my breath. Jake watches my every move.

"Axle can feel her," I jerk my face to look at Jake, "What?" I ask in disbelief. Is this true? Without question, I grab Jake and pull him in, wrapping my arms around his neck and making him bend to my height. I smash our lips back together. This caused Jake to react and lift me so my legs were now wrapped around his waist, making us the same height. The kiss deepens this time as I welcome it. Jake is my mate; I accept him as mine. The moon goddess is never wrong. Jake places us on the bed, pushing our bodies together.

Almost like they are a drug to each other, I feel the power drip from Jake as Axle tries to take over. I am no longer scared of Jake. My body wants to trust him, "I have to stop, or I won't," He says, pulling away but not moving off of me. I blink a few times as I gather my thoughts. I am not ready for sex. I feel her, and she is creeping back. She will come back. Jake pushes himself off of me and puts a slight smile on his face while sitting beside me. I sit up, pull my knees to my chest, and let out a small cry. Jake wraps his arms around me and draws me closer. We don't talk. He just holds me while we fall asleep.
