Chapter 25

I start my day by picking up the broken clock from last night. Brenden talked all night about his story with Waylen. We shared a similar back and forth with Waylen. Octavia and Storm played with blocks until she fell asleep on his lap. Brenden slept on the couch.

I open the bedroom door, and music and the smell of eggs fill my nose. Jake must be cooking. I lean against the archway to the kitchen and watch Jake feed Octavia blueberries from the container. I smiled, walking over to the chair beside her, and sat down. Jake winks at me and lifts his hand with a blueberry in it. I open my mouth slightly, and he places the berry into my mouth and brushes his thumb across my bottom lip. I feel the blush creep on my face while Jake turns around and flips the cooking eggs. Brenden walks through and greets us with all good morning. Slowly, the kitchen is filled with people helping Jake fix food or working on paperwork at the long table.

For the last two months, everything has been quiet. Rogue attacks have picked up, but it has been easy to deal with. Anya announced she was pregnant, bringing everyone together. I am happy for them. I still can't get the feeling of doom that looms over me. My gut has never been wrong. I am about to step down from my alpha position so Jake can lead both packs, and I will take the title Luna for good. Combining both packs, we will be called the Silver Moon pack. I am combining our pack names. I am the pack's mother, while Jake will be the ruler. Storm will lose his position, but he isn't mad about that. I was signing paperwork after paperwork- got boring after a while.

"I bought you some food," Jake says, pushing the door open. I sigh, sit back, and eat the sandwich he got me. "Do you want to come join the pack run?" Jake questions me. I slam my notebook close and push in my chair. Jake laughs at me. "The run isn't right now, little one," I huffed out, causing Jake to roll his eyes at my attitude. "Get off me!" I run out of the room, hear Jake laugh, and run after me. I squeal and duck in a corner, hoping he will pass me. I hear nothing.

My heartbeat in my ears. Jake's tall frame pushes me further into the wall. Jake places his arms above my head, making him lean toward me. I stare up at him with my lips in a thin line. "You didn't run far," He mocks me. I place one of my hands over my mouth to stifle my laugh. Jake grabs my wrist and pushes my hand away from my mouth. He ducks down and places a swift kiss on my lips. He squats and picks me up so I am over his shoulder. "Put me down!" I screamed, beating his back with my fist. "You know you love it," Is all he replies, smacking my ass with his other hand. I laugh and accept my faith.

Jason and Storm are in the kitchen when Jake enters with me on his shoulder. He sits me down on the countertop but doesn't leave my side. He is in the middle of my legs with his hands on my waist. "There are more people in the room," Jason coughs up, breaking Jake from my stare. "And?" That is all Jake replies. Jason and Storm stand up, scoop their belongings in their hands, and leave the kitchen.

I feel bad now. Jake sees my face. He grabs me at the bend of my knees and pulls me closer to him. He places his thumb under my chin, making me forget Jason and Storm. He kisses me slowly and tilts my head back, deepening the kiss. My hands reach his waist, and his hand is in my hair. I let out a little moan as he pulled my hair.

"There is a child entering people!" Anya yells, breaking Jake and me apart. My face heats, and Jake looks grumpy. Octavia comes running in with Anya and Brenden chasing her. Next comes Jameson, " I was sick of running," He says, plopping down in a chair. That explains why Anya was in on the chase. Octaiva's little laughs fill the air. I smile, knowing I helped her have happiness.

"We need to talk and sign paperwork of me becoming alpha of both packs," Jake butts in, reminding me of the paperwork I was trying to finish. I jump off the counter and grab his hand as he leads me back to the office. I sit in my chair, and he pulls up a stool in the corner of the room next to me. "I already stated that Storm will lose his title, and you will gain a few people in the Silver Heart pack. We already talked about the pack name change, so I stated the change from Blood Moon and Silver Heart to Silver Moon pack. I covered everything. We need to sign," I say in a rush, not telling in detail what I wrote, causing Jake to reread everything I said. He hums when he is finished and signs. I follow and sign my name. I am no longer an alpha. I feel relieved in the wrong way. Like I am passing the pain onto Jake. He kisses my cheek and walks out of the room to greet the new pack for the pack run as the Silver Moon pack.

The pack took little time to gather around the small stage in the yard. Everyone knows what's to come. Jake steps on stage and greets everyone. "Who is ready for the new pack run!" Jake booms to everyone as they erupt in cheers. He turns to me, causing me to smile—alpha at full charge. Jake steps off the stage and shifts to Axle. I do the same and let Tegan out. Our wolves greet each other and dash into the woods with the Silver Moon pack following.
