Ryder holds my shoulders, but looks at my face, "Man, I wish I could kiss you right now."
I hold in a glare and smile all flirty like, "Just ask me and you can."
"Is the bet still on?"
"Did we ever end it?"
"No."
"Then yeah, it's still on."
"What will you make me get tattooed?"
"That's for me to know and you to find out," I wink.
He flashes me a skeptical look, and I know I did something wrong. Am I being too flirty? Crap, I bet I am.
"Let's get out of here," Ryder tries to pull me to motorcycle.
"Um, my parents," I point my thumb over my shoulder.
He smirks that smirk that makes other girls' knees weak. Key word: other.
"You have my phone number right? Call me sometime," I wrap my arms around his shoulders, but I stop myself from feeling comfort from the embrace.
He sighs heavily, but hugs me back. "I really did miss you, Bri," he whispers.
"I missed you too," I lie. I mean we were separated for what a day? Not even a full day.
"When can I see you again?" he asks.
"Hopefully soon, but do not come to my house or to the base. Maybe we could meet at some park soon," I rest my head against his chest.
"That sounds like a plan," he kisses the top of my head, then lets go of me. He runs off into the distance.
I smirk happily when I realize for the first time ever, I don't miss his warmth.
I decide to walk back to the base, it's going to get dark soon and I don't want to be out here alone. I want to tell Dad my plan and workout a little bit. A guard grabs me as soon as I walk in.
"Excuse me, miss, where are you going?" he demands.
I wiggle around, trying to get him to let go of me, "To find my Dad, Zach Johns."
Right when I say his name, the guard lets go of me.
"Thank you," I mumble sarcastically.
I walk around the base, but it didn't take long to find Dad. He was running around looking absolutely terrified. When I call his name, he looks at me and relief floods his face. He runs up to me and entangles me in a tight hug.
"Where the heck were you?!" he yells.
"I had to get some fresh air."
"With that new recruit?" he asks with a smug smirk.
I gag, "No! That new recruit was Ryder."
"The Ryder?"
"Yes, the Ryder."
"He was spying on us?!"
"Yeah, you didn't tell him anything did you?"
"Of course not, we don't tell our newbies anything."
"Good, because he was spying. I think he'll be back. Even though I caught him."
"Why?"
"Because I may or may not have lead him to believe that on his side."
"Why would you do that?!" he flips out on me.
I take a step back, completely shocked that Dad yelled at me even though I'm helping his stupid gang.
